2020 NFL mock draft: Justin Herbert lands with Bengals
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins battled it out in one of the worst matchups in NFL history on Sunday, with the Dolphins keeping their winless season alive.
The 2019 NFL schedule rolled on this past weekend, with two winless teams battling it out in South Beach, as the Miami Dolphins played host to the Washington Redskins. The Dolphins are in full tank mode to get Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and after scoring late to appear to tie the game, they went for two, and lost 17-16.
Here is our latest 2020 NFL mock draft with the draft order thanks to tankathon.com.
All Justin Herbert continues to do in 2019 is put the Oregon Ducks on his back and win football games, which will keep him in the conversation of being the No. 1 overall pick next April. Herbert has everything you look for in a franchise NFL quarterback, and comes into the league with tremendous experience under his belt, after playing at Oregon for four seasons.
The Cincinnati Bengals are absolutely one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, as Zac Taylor’s stint as the head coach is not off to the right start. He has key guys on the shelf, like wide receiver A.J. Green, and the team just has not played consistent football for four quarters once this season.
When it comes time for the 2020 NFL Draft, the Bengals are going to be picking early in round one, and if they have the No. 1 overall pick, the plan has to be to replace Andy Dalton under center. The Herbert-Tua Tagovailoa conversation is going to go on all offseason, but in our latest mock, Herbert lands with the Bengals with the first pick.
On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins played host to the Washington Redskins in a matchup of two teams in the running for the first overall pick in next April’s NFL Draft. While the Dolphins played hard, they made sure to continue their winless season, going for two points for the win after scoring a touchdown late to pull within one point of the Redskins in front of the home crowd.
This is not how Brian Flores expected his first season to go in South Beach, but with a ton of draft picks on the horizon, better times are coming. The Oakland Raiders parlayed three first round picks into being one of the more consistent teams in the NFL this season, going from four wins in 2018, to already three wins through their first five games of the season.
With the No. 2 overall pick next April, the Tank for Tua will yield the result the Dolphins want, as they land their new franchise quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. It has long been known that Tua will be one of the first names called during the 2020 NFL Draft, and for the Dolphins, he would be that franchise guy this organization has been missing for a long time.
