As if things couldn’t get any worse for the Arkansas Razorbacks football program, they shot their shot on a fake punt attempt and embarrassed themselves.

When you haven’t won a conference game in years, you have to do things a little bit differently to catch your opponent off-guard to maybe think about winning a ball game. Well, if you’re the Arkansas Razorbacks, there are plenty of reasons that things are as bad as they are now. Just look at this dumpster fire of a special teams play.

Down 17-0 at home early in the second quarter to the SEC West rival Auburn Tigers, Arkansas attempted the worst fake punt you’ll see all day Saturday. Punter Sam Loy attempted the saddest chest pass of all time. It went right into the hands of Auburn outside linebacker Chandler Wooten, who returned it two yards to the Arkansas 37-yard line.

It’s only fitting that Auburn would miss the field goal on an Anders Carlson 48-yard attempt seven plays later. But will forget about Carlson’s miss, but nobody should forget about the time Loy channeled his inner Kobe Bryant and gave us whatever this was.

We should be truly thankful that Arkansas does not have to play the Vanderbilt Commodores this year. That was would be the worst display of SEC football in decades. But if that theoretical contest were to take place on the hardwood at either Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville or Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Loy and the Razorbacks might have a better chance of winning.

Let’s just hope that Arkansas head coach Chad Morris learns his lesson. The lesson to be learned is that Loy will attempt a chest pass and not throw it with one arm like a football player would when asked to attempt a fake punt in Arkansas territory. This attempt won’t be why Arkansas will lose to Auburn but is a microcosm of why Razorbacks football is so unbelievably terrible in 2019.
