Lacey Evans is one to watch out for in the ring and on social media
“The Sassy Southern Belle” Lacey Evans should teach a class on how to effectively use social media to enhance your character.
If the rise of “The Man” Becky Lynch taught us anything it’s that social media can be a great tool for a wrestler to help get themselves over when used properly. In recent weeks, WWE Superstar Lacey Evans has fast become a social media master.
For a professional wrestler their brand is themselves, and Evans is capitalizing on exactly that. Evans is doing everything right when it comes to promoting her brand online. She posts regularly, uses a good mix of video and pictures and really leans into her character. In fact, it’s her commitment to her wrestling persona that’s really setting her social media accounts apart from some of the other Superstars.
Where a lot to post more personal photos, Evans has a nice blend of both that and being in character. But even when she’s hyping her appearance on Military Makeover, or posting a pic with her daughter at home, she still takes the time to throw out a #NoNasties which is her trademark hashtag. Her effort online is paying off as she gains more followers amused by her antics. But when the online haters come around with negative comments, Evans isn’t shy about putting them in their place either.

Evans has done well at hyping up her in-ring storylines and has even branched out into her own online store. Some of her best work online came when the WWE headed to Canada for a show and Evans was pulled over by a state trooper. She filmed the encounter in-character, showing her giving the trooper a hard time about a ticket. The video went over so well many people thought it was real (it was staged). Most recently Evans went after “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson by pasting a picture of herself over one of his own, to which The Rock responded on Twitter. Anytime you can get The Rock’s attention you must be doing something right.
With Evans, there have been questions about her in-ring ability. While she’s still working out the kinks of being on the main roster she’s been getting better each time she performs. Her series of recent matches against Natalya were very good and their rivalry gave the women’s division some more depth than having each match only focused on the championships. In fact, their Falls Count Anywhere Match from Raw proved how tough Evans can be when put to the test. And her theme song is infectious.
Given a little more time Evans can be the breakout Superstar that she’s being groomed to become. Now that she’s been moved to Friday Night SmackDown on Fox she’s got a big opportunity and she’s using her self-styled brand to leverage it.
