Sharks keep swimming

Yikes, poor Oliver Carter. Kudos to him for being a good friend, but if he wants to actually get a win in NXT UK, it’s probably not going to come by teaming up with Ashton Smith. After all, Smith is known for being a guy who has yet to win, and that’s rarely a distinction one wants to have in any line of work. Imagine being a surgeon that is known for never performing a successful procedure.

Not helping things either: the fact that this not-a-tag team is tag teaming up against Grizzled Young Veterans. Also probably not smart to try and get your first win in a tag team match against guys who are very recent former champions. Carter gets to show out a bit — as he has in his other matches — and Smith gets in some high-impact offense, but it’s a doomed mission from the start.

Grizzled Young Veterans are sharks. They eliminate Carter from the equation, and then take advantage of the numbers game, swarming on Smith and finishing him off with Ticket to Mayhem. That’s not enough for them though, as they continue the beatdown on their fallen opponents after the bell.

That brings out Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster to make the save. Their feud looks to continue even though the titles have been removed from the picture.

Backstage, annoyed, and looking for management to complain to, GYV run into Gallus. Gibson tells the new champs to not get used to their status, because he and Drake want that gold back. Don’t look now, but the NXT UK tag team division has gone from middling to mighty intriguing. Especially if Oliver Carter and Ashton Smith continue teaming up, right??? Wait, where are you going? Hello?
