Rizzla breaks down and discusses the rationale behind his Yahoo DFS NFL Cup Round 8 DFS lineup.

As always I like to start by reflecting and learning from the previous weeks lineup. There were some hits, some disappointments and some downright misses. In the hit category we had Ezekiel Elliott who carved up one of the best on paper run defenses for 111 rushing yards and a touchdown. Zeke would add six receptions for 36 yards to boost his fantasy output to 23.7 points.

At tight end Hunter Henry came on strong late and amassed 97 receiving yards off six receptions. Finally, there was Leonard Fournette who failed to find the end zone, but still racked up 131 yards rushing and 14 yards receiving for 15.5 fantasy points.

Golden Tate was solid with his six reception, 80 receiving yard afternoon, but disappointed relative to expectations against a forgiving defense up the seams. Preston Williams also had a solid six reception afternoon. He piled up 82 yards, but lost a fumble dragging his total under double digits at 9.2 fantasy points.

In the outright miss arena, we had Will Fuller who went down after only a few snaps. Kenny Stills assumed his role in the offense and had a 100 receiving yard afternoon in his stead. Injuries happen, but with less than two points accrued, starting Fuller has to be considered a miss.

Kyler Murray was a disaster in the fantasy realm. Content to sit back and watch Chase Edmonds run wild, Murray, who had back to back performances of over 25 fantasy points, had a season low 6.96 points. This was less than half his previous season low of 16.36 points against Baltimore. Making matters worse 2.8 of those points came on the ground.

Terry McLaurin struggled against the 49ers and saw just two targets all afternoon. Case Keenum attempted just 12 passes in a tight contest in turn limiting the upside of the promising rookie.

Finally, we had the Los Angeles Chargers D/ST. The Chargers managed to rack up two sacks and an interception, but end up allowing 23 points in a loss to the Tennessee Titans. Four points is not what I had in mind when this lineup was put together.

For this week’s NFL Yahoo Cup free roll I followed my usual strategy of filling defense, tight end and quarterback first by identifying the best potential values and then doing the same for both running back and receiver.
