4. Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens from the Los Angeles Rams

The Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Rams struck a deal first in the leadup to the impending trade deadline. Los Angeles sent cornerback Marcus Peters to Baltimore for linebacker Kenny Young and a 2020 fifth-round pick back on Oct. 15.

Los Angeles would go on to remake its secondary in the same afternoon, as Rams general manager Les Snead would put injured cornerback Aqib Talib on IR and then orchestrate another blockbuster deal for another high-profile cornerback a few hours later in landing Jalen Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

We’ll talk about the Ramsey trade between the Jaguars and Rams here shortly, but let’s look at both sides of this deal first between Baltimore and Los Angeles. The Rams weren’t bringing back Peters, who was in the last year of his deal. He’s a great player when he wants to be, but his unpredictable nature in the secondary ultimately led to his departure from the Rams organization.

Adding Young and a fifth-round pick gives Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips a linebacker to work with, as well as another pick Snead could use to draft a player or make a deal. As for Baltimore, the Ravens got a ballhawk that’ll surely make a big play or two for them on their quest to repeat in the AFC North and orchestrate a deep playoff run this January. Both teams win here.
