Use Aaron Jones in fantasy and you’ll probably win more
By John Buhler
It turns out the Green Bay Packers have a great running back after all. If you have Aaron Jones on your team, you should start him and you’ll win more.
For much of the Aaron Rodgers era with the Green Bay Packers, it’s been all about passing the football and not so much about running it. One could argue that Green Bay’s last great running back was Ahman Green and he played with the team well over a decade ago. But as it turns out, Green Bay has had a star in its backfield the last few years in Aaron Jones.
The Packers used a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft to select the running back out of UTEP. Jones had shown flashes of greatness the last two years in Green Bay, but he’s exploded in the Packers offense now that Matt LaFleur is the head coach. The Fantasy Footballers have taken notice.

Jones had an incredible fantasy game last week vs. the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. He had 13 carries for 67 yards, as well as seven catches for 159 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers’ 31-24 win over Kansas City in primetime. Jones’ 67-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference-maker in that ball game.
That awesome game against Kansas City netted Jones 34.6 fantasy points in Week 8. This was his second-highest total of the season, as he had 42.2 points in the Packers’ Week 5 win over the Dallas Cowboys. In six of the Packers’ eight games this season, Jones has had over 10 fantasy points.
While there are games that Jones won’t be a part of the Packers offense for whatever reason, his potential to go off makes him a worthwhile player in your starting lineup every week. Mike Wright of Fantasy Footballers would say that if former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy would have used Jones more, then maybe he’d still have his job in Green Bay? Jones has been outstanding.
The Packers will take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon in Carson. Though the Chargers held the Chicago Bears in check last week on the road, look for Jones and the Packers to run the ball all over the Chargers in a game played in front of many traveling fans of the Pack Faithful.
