So Cal Celebration
The final match of this week’s edition of Dynamite featured the finals of the AEW Tag Title Tournament pitting The Lucha Bros against S.C.U.
Pentagon and Frankie Kazarian start off in the ring but quickly their partners jump in and the match descends into a hockey brawl. The Lucha Bros focus on Scorpio Sky as Pentagon hits him with a massive pumphandle driver.
Sky continues to get worked over until he gets whipped into Kazarian. Sky then monkey flips Kazarian into a double clothesline on The Bros. S.C.U. send Pentagon and Fenix to the floor and hit a barrage of moves until Fenix gouges Sky’s eyed to regain the momentum. Fenix then hits a gorgeous jumping front flip arm drag from the top rope. Pentagon looks to hit Sky with an electric chair on the steel steps but Sky lands on his feet. S.C.U look to isolate Pentagon but Fenix dives out to the floor onto them.
Back from commercial, Kazarian is being worked over by The Lucha Bros until Kaz hits an Angel’s Wings (shout-out to Christopher Daniels) on Fenix and gets the tag to Sky. Sky runs wild on The Bros and hits dives on both men to the outside. Fenix dropkicks Sky to cut off his rampage but Kaz follows Fenix out and attempts a diving hurricanrana. Kazarian hits the back of his head hard on the apron but keeps going and hits two DDT variants.
Pentagon won’t back down and hits Kaz with a Canadian Destroyer and Fenix hits a rolling Ace Crusher on Sky. The Lucha Bros look to isolate Sky as Pentagon powerbombs Kazarian through the ringside timekeeper’s table. The Bros go for their tag team finisher but Sky rolls Pentagon into a schoolboy pin for the win.
S.C.U. celebrate in the ring as the show fades to black.
This was an incredible main event that may be in the running for the best Dynamite match in AEW history. Both teams came off great and with the blindsiding roll up win, The Lucha Bros have a claim for a rematch.
This week, AEW gave us another solid episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite that showcased a great collection of contests. AEW continues to keep upping their game and match quality heading into Full Gear and thankfully they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down.
