With the fantasy playoffs on the horizon, which players are looking to be boom or bust candidates this weekend?

Week 8’s fantasy football picks were towing the line of being great, but ended up more on “average” side. A few BOOM picks were right on the fringe of holding true, and the same goes for a handful of BUST picks – picks that didn’t win you your matchup but did just enough to salvage their uninspiring days.

Beginning with Matthew Stafford, the Lions’ gunslinger produced a big line (one that should’ve been much bigger) as he’s begun to do on a regular basis. On the other picks that hit, Stefon Diggs dominated looks without Adam Thielen and Austin Hooper caught a late-game touchdown to give him yet another top-five finish at TE.

While I really believed this was the week Le’Veon Bell would roar back to life, that just wasn’t the case as the Jets’ offense has been BAD as of late. Additionally, John Brown and James White (sigh) started off strong, but were uninvolved for reasons unknown in the second halves of their games.

The foursome of Jacoby Brissett, Eric Ebron, Alshon Jeffery, and D.J. Moore predictably struggled in harsh matchups. Perhaps the most frustrating of all Week 8 picks was Melvin Gordon, who did virtually nothing aside from a 19-yard touchdown scamper but still ended up with over 11 fantasy points. Lastly, Adrian Peterson proved his ankle issue was of no concern as he posted admirable numbers against his former team.

BOOM Picks:

QB Matthew Stafford vs. NYG – 342 passing yards, 3 TD, INT, -3 rushing yards (23.4 points)

RB Le’Veon Bell @ JAX – 12 rushing yards, 3 receptions for 12 yards (6.5 points)

RB James White vs. CLE – 4 rushing yards, 4 receptions for 75 yards (11.9 points)

WR Stefon Diggs vs. WSH – 7 receptions for 143 yards, FUM (19.3 points)

WR John Brown vs. PHI – 5 receptions for 54 yards (10.4 points)

TE Austin Hooper vs. SEA – 6 receptions for 65 yards, TD (18.5 points)

BUST Picks:

QB Jacoby Brissett vs. DEN – 202 passing yards, 34 rushing yards, FUM (9.5 points)

RB Melvin Gordon @ CHI – 31 rushing yards, TD, 2 receptions for 3 yards (11.4 points)

RB Adrian Peterson @ MIN – 76 rushing yards, 2 receptions for 27 (12.3 points)

WR Alshon Jeffery @ BUF – 4 receptions for 64 yards (10.4 points)

WR D.J. Moore @ SF – 5 receptions for 38 yards (8.8 points)

Total Correct Picks – 7/12
