Halloween and hockey go together like tricks and treats. Check out some of the NHL’s finest costumes this spooky season.
No one celebrates Halloween quite like the NHL. The players and their families get right into the spirit, whether it’s at a team party, trick or treating with kids or visiting fans who could use a boost. Halloween is a time when hockey players can have some fun and connect with fans.
As expected, the 2019 costumes did not disappoint. The league’s finest were out and about over the last week, dressed as some of the most accurate, scary and downright incredible costumes we’ve seen. As you enjoy your Halloween morning, check out some of these beauties.
Beginning with McJesus himself, Connor McDavid, who may be getting a little ahead of himself, seasonally.

Eberle the tooth fairy is pretty fitting, especially since he could benefit from collecting a few extra chiclets (like all hockey players).

Gritty went with a cross-dressed classic costume. He’s a good looking Wonder Woman, but Gal Gadot gets the slight edge in this department. We just hope Gritty wasn’t out and about after the game, besmirching Diana Prince’s good name.
William Karlsson and Max Domi both took advantage of their luscious lettuce and painted on the Heath Ledger Joker makeup and both look very, very convincing! Personality-wise, Domi is a little more believable, but in terms of costumes, they both nailed this one.

We’re unsure if star goaltenders Carey Price and Marc-André Fleury planned this, but their Addams Family costumes were spooktacular. They probably didn’t plan this. Goalies are a different breed, but they are all the same kind of “weird.” Angela and Véronique are both incredibly accurate as well.

Stanley Cup champion teammates David Perron and Ryan O’Reilly went as each other for Halloween, O’Reilly dressed as French toast and Perron, accurately dressed as a drunk hillbilly hockey fan who just so happens to be one of the most talented two-way NHL players on the planet.

Mark Stone and his skating partner Hayley “don’t just want to win, they want to make love to the crowd” in their hilarious Blades of Glory-inspired costumes.

This one makes sense, given how fantastic Stone has been looked on the ice so far this season. Mark and Hayley weren’t the only ones in tights this Halloween. The red hot Colorado Avalanche have been wrestling more than just injury problems as of late.
The @Avalanche are ready for a little wrastling. 🤼♂️ #HockeyHalloween

Across the country in the East, Jack Hughes and his teammates were looking groovy with these 70’s inspired costumes, while potentially asking for NHL-sanctioned drug testing in the morning (It would explain a lot about how the team has been playing, wouldn’t it?).

It wasn’t just players getting into the action. There were a few hockey Halloween costumes from NHL fans that were too good to be left out. Here’s one that takes just about everything bad that can happen on the ice and wraps it up in one really spooky (but very impressive) make up job:

The winner from the NHL’s Halloween hockey costumes was an easy choice. As incredible and creative as all of these players and fans are, no one tops Captain, the Washington Capitals pup, who dressed up in a few adorable costumes while being the goodest boi ever.
