Less than 30 days after dislocating his kneecap, Patrick Mahomes will start for the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10.

He’s back.

When Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes went down with a knee injury on Oct. 17, fans watching that Thursday Night Football matchup against the Denver Broncos feared the worst for both Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Mahomes avoided structural damage to his knee, but he did dislocated the joint. Yet just 24 days later, Mahomes is healthy enough to take the field in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the reigning NFL MVP will get the start on Sunday.

Matt Moore played well under center for the Chiefs, leading the team to a 26-23 win over the Minnesota Vikings last week after nearly engineering an upset over the Green Bay Packers. The Chiefs stepped up when Mahomes was injured, and that sets them up nicely as leading contenders in the AFC – along with the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens – now that he’s back.

The Chiefs may have been able to win this week’s game against the Titans without Mahomes, but the Titans are quietly in the playoff picture with Ryan Tannehill playing competent football. Andy Reid’s team needs to grab all the wins they can get in the AFC, and given how much better the defense and skill position players have looked in recent weeks, Mahomes could have a big game in his return from injury.

Mahomes’ legend only grows with each passing week, and after a ridiculously fast recovery from a knee injury, it would only be fitting for the young quarterback to have another MVP-caliber performance in just his first game back from the shelf. The Titans may have a talented secondary, but they are no match for a man as bad as Mahomes.
