On this week’s WWE NXT we saw a couple of Good Brothers at Full Sail, the Wargames teams start to take shape, and some great matches.

This week’s edition of WWE NXT provided a pretty good show. They used the O.C. to capitalize on what happened over the past week on other WWE programming. There were a lot of good matches on this week’s show and hopefully, a lot of new people were watching.

Here is the NXT recap for Nov. 6th, 2019.

Don’t mess with the Good Brothers

NXT opened up showing highlights of The O.C. attacking the Undisputed Era outside of Full Sail prior to the show going on the air. We were then taken live into the arena as AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson came through the crowd and entered the ring.

The crowd loved this and we can’t blame them. The O.C. said that the Era wanted a war so they were bringing the war to them. The O.C. declared they are taking over NXT. But they were interrupted by Tommaso Ciampa.

Ciampa welcomed the OC to the “Main Roster” which got a huge pop from the crowd. He says NXT is the main show and that “it’s daddy’s home.” Ciampa said he doesn’t have a problem with The O.C. attacking the Undisputed Era but if they wanted to try to take over NXT he had a problem with that.

Styles questioned why they should be afraid of one man and Ciampa was quickly joined on the stage by Matt Riddle and Keith Lee. A six-man tag team match is made official for later on tonight.

Will Dunne get his revenge?

The opening contest of the evening saw Pete Dunne get his rematch against Damian Priest. After the way Priest won a few weeks back it was only a matter of time before Dunne got another shot at the Archer of Infamy. However, there’s always the threat of Killian Dain lurking to take out Dunne.

After their last match together we got everything we should have expected from the rematch, a very hard-hitting back and forth affair. Priest and Dunne really took it to one another. They worked great together and it served as the perfect match to start things off on NXT this week.

The match went through two commercial breaks, the first featured the picture in picture feature and the other one didn’t. It’s jarring. Either do it all the time or don’t do it at all.

The finish of the match saw Dunne actually get a measure of revenge against Priest, who tried to once again hit Dunne with a low blow while the referee’s back was turned but Dunne caught him and kicked him low instead. He then rolled Priest to the mat, snapped his fingers and put him in a cross-arm breaker to score the tap out victory. Dain waited until after the match to attack Dunne so at least we got a finish before the interference as he took out both Dunne and Priest for getting involved.

The teams for the women’s War Games match come together

They then announced the three of the four members of each women’s teams for the War Games match at TakeOver on Nov. 23. Rhea Ripley’s team has Candice LeRae and Tegan Nox, while Shayna Baszler’s team has Io Shirai and Bianca Belair. Each team still has one spot to fill and we might learn who will enter those spots before the night is over.

It does amuse us to see Baszler not picking either Marina Shafir or Jessamyn Duke for her team. It seemed like a no-brainer last week. Are they really still that green? We think they’ve been working long enough that they should have been able to handle this match.

It would have been quite simple just to make the match five-on-five and get both of them in there. Instead with their exclusion, it looks like Baszler doesn’t trust the very people she’s been running with for almost her entire NXT run by picking people other than them.

We will see how this plays in the weeks to come but this is certainly something that should be addressed sooner rather than later.

Conti and Garrett in women’s action

As NXT returned from commercial break we got a match up in the women’s division, with Taynara Conti going one-on-one against Santana Garrett, who we haven’t seen on NXT in a while. The match wasn’t all that long but it was good for the time we got it.

Garrett and Conti both got their chances to shine throughout the match but it was Conti with a vicious-looking jump kick to the face that scored her a victory. The commentators put over how this match could help her land on one of the War Games teams. We aren’t really buying that.

We see Baszler backstage training with her friends who apparently aren’t good enough to be on her team and they let us know that her match with Kai is coming up next.

Can Kai stand up to the Queen of Spades?

Prior to the match, they announce that we are getting Angel Garza against Tony Nese later on in the show, and the winner will receive a shot at Lio Rush and his NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

As Kai made her way to the ring, the commentators tried to talk about the history of these two women. This was a great idea because some newer viewers of NXT might not be aware of what has gone down between Kai and Baszler in the past as they have had their fair share of matches in their time in the black and gold brand.

Part of that story saw Kai be pretty much terrified of the Women’s Champion due to the fact that she hurt her early on in the feud and it painted Kai in a bad light. With her back from injury and a fresh start with a new set of eyes on her, we can only hope that history isn’t going to repeat itself tonight.

The showcase of Kai’s talent throughout the match might truly be the best Kai has looked since signing with NXT. Baszler made her look like a million bucks. If you’ve seen her work prior to signing with WWE you knew that we truly haven’t seen everything that she’s capable of, but we got a good glimpse of it this week. Her future seems bright.

In the end, however, it wasn’t enough as Baszler got the submission win with the Kirifuta Clutch. After the match Baszler, Duke and Shafir attacked Kai but Ripley, Nox, and LeRae came out to even things out but they were quickly attacked by Belair and Shirai. This brought out Mia Yim with a kendo stick to chase off Baszler and company and stand with team Ripley. So we guess we know who the fourth woman is on that team.

Who is Rush’s next challenger?

Before we get to Garza and Nese, we have Cathy Kelley backstage interviewing Ciampa, Lee and Riddle. She tried to find out who the fourth member of their War Games team is, but Ciampa says people will know who that is when they are ready to reveal it.

We also got a quick video package for Isiah “Swerve” Scott. He’s certainly being positioned to become a star of the NXT cruiserweight division for years to come. WWE is lucky to have him. Just thinking about the possibility of Swerve against Rush in the future has us excited.

But before we can get to that, we have Garza and Nese going one-on-one to determine the next challenger for Rush’s title.

The match itself — ignoring the stupid stuff with the pants that Garza loves so much — was fantastic. Nese has really been under the radar since losing the title at WrestleMania earlier this year and it was nice to see him get to shine on a program that’s not strictly on the WWE Network. The finish of the match saw Garza pick up the win with the Wing Clipper.

His match with Rush should be great. And speaking of the champ, he made his way out after the match and met up with Garza on stage. Rush wanted to shake his hand but got slapped in the face instead. They announced the title match will happen next week on NXT.

Ripley’s team is now complete while Swerve and Dijakovic go to war

Backstage, Kelley caught up with Ripley and the four other women she stood in the ring with earlier tonight and she announced that Yim was going to be the fourth member of her team. Kai was visibly upset and Ripley told her she simply didn’t make the cut. Kai excused herself and walked away. If they were setting up a heel turn for Kai it would make sense for her to end up on Baszler’s team but we don’t think that’s going to happen.

Next, Swerve took on Dominik Dijakovic. The styles of these two wrestlers should mix together incredibly well.

This was easily the match of the night. Dijakovic and Scott tore the house down. Both men came out of the match looking like winners but only one could have their hand raised in victory. That honor went to Dijakovic after finally being able to hit Feast Your Eyes having it reversed on him earlier in the match.

One of the many things we love about the black and gold brand is the way they book a lot of their matches to make everyone involved look stronger despite winning or losing. This was certainly one of those matches.

The O.C.’s first-ever match in NXT

Prior to the main event, we had a video package on the Forgotten Sons who the black and gold brand continues to try and make a thing. Word of advice? Just give up and reboot them. The gimmick isn’t getting over.

We also are informed that next week Yim will take on Shirai in a ladder match to determine the War Games advantage. The more we think about it, the more we think Kai might end up costing Yim this match, turn heel and join Baszler’s team.

Next is the main event of the night, as The O.C. make their way to the ring. The fact that this is the first time any of these three men have had a match in NXT is pretty cool.

This match was everything it could have been from these six men. The Full Sail crowd loved it. It was a star-studded main event and was just the kind of match NXT needed to get some new eyeballs on their product.

The ending of the match saw the ref take a bump from Lee’s Pounce and then all hell broke loose. Ciampa looked like he was about to hit the Fairytale Ending on Styles but Finna Balor came out and distracted the Blackheart, who instead got a Pele kick for his troubles. Balor laid out Riddle at ringside with 1916 and Styles did the “too sweet” hand signal to Balor and he responded in kind with the Bullet Club gun signal.

Styles was going to hit Ciampa with the Styles Clash but got superkicked by Adam Cole out of nowhere. Cole then laid out Ciampa with the Last Shot as he stared down Balor who stood in the aisle as NXT went off the air.

That closed out the Nov. 6 edition of WWE NXT, which served as a great follow up from the black and gold brand after what we have seen on SmackDown and Raw in the course of the past week to build up both TakeOver: War Games and Survivor Series
