Interview views

Whole lot of interviews going on this week to set up future matches, let’s take a quick look. First and foremost, we get part one in the suddenly multi-episodic Piper Niven “Up Close” feature. She mostly talks about how she first became interested in wrestling — watching at home while sick and seeing the Undertaker doing cool stuff — how her parents feel about what she does — they’re proud — and what her goals are — of course the NXT UK Women’s championship, but also being a positive role model for the kids. Looking forward to more insight in part two of who knows how many! Did Ken Burns direct these? We could be in for the long haul here.

Xia Brookside gets her chance to respond to Kay Lee Ray’s response to her cheeky vlog. In a brief interview with Alicia Taylor she talks about continuing to work hard so she can show Kay Lee Ray what she’s truly made of. Then she takes her jacket and walks off while Alicia smiles and nods approvingly. It’s magical. Brookside and Ray will take each other on next week.

Lastly, Kassius Ohno cuts a pre-taped promo on, what else, the legacy of wrestling that is being tarnished by the NXT UK roster. He talks of the history of Strong Style and how it actually means something to him and informs who he is as a performer. Meanwhile, British Strong Style just co-opted the name because it sounds cool or whatever. Then he talks about how Tyler Bate is the only one left of the group, how Pete Dunne is gone and Trent Seven is in shambles. Uhh, do you even watch the show dude? Trent Seven won a main event match like two weeks ago.

Anyway, he’s mad at Tyler for not letting him beat up a defenseless A-Kid, so now he’s going to do what Imperium could not and extinguish British Strong Style for good (in a match next week!) Sorry, is British Strong Style not already dead? Can someone give a clear answer on their status? Just confused as all because it feels like at least seven different people have already claimed it to be dead.

That will do it for this NXT UK recap! Are Gallus plus Ilja and Imperium headed for their own War Games match? Are Mark Andrews, Flash Morgan Webster, and Grizzled Young Veterans going to form their own four-man team now for faction vengeance? Should Kassius Ohno consider watching the program so he can stay up to date on which factions are or are not “dead”?

Let us know your thoughts on these questions, factions, and anything else related to NXT UK down in the comments below. And if you happened to enjoy anything you read here today, please give us some love on social media. Factions.
