Packers poised to bounce back against Panthers in Week 10

After a dreadful showing against the Los Angeles Chargers last week, look for the Green Bay Packers to bounce back against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Everybody and their brother thought that the Green Bay Packers were going to clobber the Los Angeles Chargers in Carson last week. The Pack were playing in front of a crowd of 90 percent Packers fans in a diminutive soccer stadium. Well, the Packers decided to have a little fun once they got to California on Friday and it carried over into the game. Green Bay suffered an awful loss.

Though we have to give the Chargers some credit, it was a game where the Packers beat themselves more than anything. If you want further proof, just look at the Chargers’ latest loss four days later on the road against the division rival Oakland Raiders. Green Bay will have to pick up the pieces when they host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Will the result be different?

The Fantasy Footballers certainly think so. The Packers’ humiliating road loss will serve as motivation when they take on a fellow NFC playoff contender in their own stadium. This will not be a game where Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense manages only 11 points. So look for Matt LaFleur’s offense to play better on Sunday, albeit against a good Carolina defense.

In terms of fantasy implications, this could be one of those days where Rodgers plays at an MVP level. That might be what is required out of him, as Carolina has been a tough out defensively under head coach Ron Rivera for years now. However, the Panthers offense will be limited the rest of the way, as quarterback Cam Newton has been ruled out for the year. It’s all Kyle Allen now.

Though Allen has played well this season filling in for Newton, the Panthers offense lives and dies by All-Pro candidate running back Christian McCaffrey. He’ll get his carries and his touches out of the backfield, as one of the best fantasy players the game has to offer. He might be a menace for a Packers team that doesn’t want to get physical in the trenches.

That being said, the Packers were embarrassed last week and will likely play with a crashing sense of urgency at home on Sunday. The Panthers are a good team, but not one that can hang in a shootout. So look for Rodgers to let it rip in this Packers offense to expose a normally weak Carolina secondary.
