The college football players of the week from Week 11, include Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa from the LSU-Alabama tilt and Trevor Lawrence returns.

Joe Burow may have clinched the Heisman, Tua Tagovailoa threw for 400-plus yards in a loss and Trevor Lawrence continues to break out of his sophomore slump. All those players are among the 10 college football players of the week.

Jarren Williams had one of the best performances within the ACC all season in a crucial game against a strong Louisville Cardinals defense. Williams dominated the secondary looking poised and accurate all game long. Manny Diaz now has something to build off for the remainder of the season.

There is nobody that should be happier with how their college career ended up than Shane Buechele. The veteran quarterback has responded with a comeback season with the SMU Mustangs giving them meaningful football for the first time in a while.

It seems like every week either Henry Ruggs III or Devonta Smith is making some noise on this list. The duo of amazing athletes will surely be playing on Sundays making plays.

College football players of the week

Honorable Mentions:

  • Kedon Slovis, QB, USC – 29/39 att, 432 yds, 4 TD, Int
  • DK Billingsley, RB, Troy – 14 car, 163 yds, 2 TD
  • Joe Burrow, QB, LSU – 31/39 att, 393 yds, 3 TD
  • Malcolm Davidson, RB, Florida Atlantic – 17 car, 144 yds, 3 TD

10. Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

  • 16/25 att, 200 yds, 3 TD
  • 5 car, 28 yds, TD

Justin Fields has already established himself as one of the best dual-threat college quarterbacks in the last five years. With another fantastic performance against an awful Maryland team, the Buckeyes move on to face Rutgers where they could be favored by 70 points.

9. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU

  • 20 car, 103 yds, 3 TD

Finally, the LSU Tigers have gotten the better of the Alabama Crimson Tide. With backs like Leonard Fournette passing through the program, it was Clyde Edwards-Helaire who was too physical and fast for the Alabama defense leading LSU to the win.

8. Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

  • 21/40 att, 418 yds, 4 TD, Int

In a surprise shootout against LSU, Tua Tagovailoa did everything he could to help Alabama prevail, but he came up just short. Tagovailoa still had a phenomenal day throwing the football against a stout LSU defense.

7. Tanner Morgan, QB, Minnesota

  • 18/20 att, 339 yds, 3 TD

The boat is rowing its way to a potential Top 5 ranking. Tanner Morgan and Pj Fleck have teamed up this season as an under the radar duo that is making some serious noise in the Big Ten. Only two incompletions in the program’s biggest game in a long time makes this a Top 10 worthy performance.

6. Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

  • 20/27 att, 276 yds, 3 TD
  • 8 car, 59 yds, TD

Trevor Lawrence is starting to heat up for the Clemson Tigers just when they need him to. After a disappointing start, Lawrence has rebounded with three straight games of at least three touchdowns.

5. Devonta Smith, WR, Alabama

  • 7 rec, 213 yds, 2 TD

This Alabama receiving core is absolutely nuts. Devonta Smith showcased some brilliant footwork and route running against a solid LSU secondary en route to over 200+ yards receiving and two touchdowns.

4. Shane Buechele, QB, SMU

  • 33/46 att, 414 yds, 5 TD, Int

Shane Buechele is becoming a must-watch every week with some fantastic performances this season. Following a loss against Memphis, Buechele showed no sign of looking in the past tossing five more touchdowns on Saturday.

3. Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma

  • 18/26 att, 273 yds, 3 TD, Int
  • 22 car, 68 yds, 2 TD

Jalen Hurts has shined all season in Lincoln Riley’s system and that continued in another five-touchdown game. Hurts now has 39 total touchdowns this season alongside a high-powered offense.

2. Brock Purdy, QB, Iowa State

  • 19/30 att, 282 yds, 5 TD
  • 15 car, 55 yds, TD

Brock Purdy couldn’t have been better in a high-scoring affair against a string Oklahoma Sooners team. In typical Big 12 fashion, Purdy dominated a below-average defense with six total touchdowns.

1. Jarren Williams, QB, Miami (FL)

  • 15/22, 253 yds, 6 TD

There has been a quarterback controversy in Miami this season, but Jarren Williams shut down all the talk with his performance against Louisville. 40 percent of Williams’ passes resulted in a touchdown, showing how truly dialed in he was in the first 6+ touchdown game in program history.
