We go through a list of buy low and sell high candidates after 10 games of NBA basketball. Reasons to move them, and what kind of players to aim for.

To buy low and sell high when we are just 10 games into the NBA season (give or take) gives the savvy owner a chance to really capitalize on our natural tendency to over-react to small sample sizes.

We have been starved for games for several months and few things are more exciting than executing a great trade this early in the season.  With some owners panicking early, you could argue that there is no better time to capitalize on this and make a play for a strong buy low, sell high opportunity.

Here is my early list of buy low, sell high players. All stats are at the time of this writing.

Buy Low

Mitchell Robinson

The big Knick has not played more than 25 minutes in a single game this year for the Knicks. Most of his minutes are in the high teens — which seems crazy for a guy who finished last season as a fourth-round player on 21 mpg. I don’t really get what Fizdale is trying to do and I don’t think Knicks brass do either, with rumors coming out that he may be fired soon.

Regardless of whether that happens or not, go try to pry Mitchell Robinson from the disgruntled owner’s hands. He is far too valuable to not outperform his current rank of 99 on Yahoo (on hardly any minutes). With the Knicks going nowhere this season there is no way they are not going to unleash all their young guns and have promising players like Robinson, Barrett, Ntilikina and Knox play more minutes.

Guys to consider throwing out there to acquire him include Josh Richardson, Harrell, Tristan Thompson and even Gallo (and it might not take that much).

Buy Low

Nikola Jokic

Niko looks kinda chubby. He is playing his way into shape, which I don’t get because, didn’t he play for the Serbian team this summer?

Regardless, Nikola is going to come into form sooner rather than later and is currently averaging:

45 percent FG, 73 percent FT, 1.1 3PG, 16.7 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 6 APG, 1.2 S PG, 0.8 BPG, and 2.6 TPG.

With these numbers he is returning Round 4 value, but the owner probably drafted him with the sixth or seventh pick.

In the last two years, Jokic has finished as the 12th- and 13th-ranked player. The Nuggets have far more depth this year than they have had in the past, but he is still the focal point of that offense (and an underrated defender). There is little reason to not believe that he will finish within at least the top 15 for the season.

The owner isn’t likely to give him up for cheap. You are probably going to have to give up a player with high upside and some buzz to their name. Guys like Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, Isaac or Kemba Walker-type players may get it done in a one-for-one but it is highly unlikely. You may need to perform a two-for-one here. Someone like D.Mitchell and Kevin Love may get it done, or maybe Walker and Isaac.
