FanSided’s interview series ‘Indie Wrestler of the Week’ continues with an interview with one of Major League Wrestling’s latest signees, Douglas James.

The next profile for our Indie Wrestler of the Week series is California indie wrestler Douglas James. James, a five-year veteran, has been the dark horse of the California wrestling scene for years now as many fans have declared James to be the next big star to come out of the west coast.

FanSided: How has indie wrestling changed since you first started out?

Douglas James: Well, I have only been wrestling for a little over four years, so I don’t think the landscape has changed that dramatically. However, the more I am in it, the more opportunities I see that there are and it’s incredibly motivating. I feel like I got in the scene at a really great point. There is no one destination anymore. I look at professional wrestling as a pick your own adventure in a way.

James gained exposure on an international level when he debuted for PWG in a four-way match with Brody King, Eli Everfly and Jake Atlas. The four men, trained at Santino Bros. Wrestling School, showcased the skill and depth of the California scene as well as established themselves as the future of indie wrestling.

What are you looking to showcase now that you gave signed a contact with MLW?

James: I want to be able to show what I am capable [of]. Every time I wrestle, I give it everything. I have never held back, ever. So, I want to be able to bring my own unique style of wrestling to MLW. I have an MMA background, I can do technical wrestling, I can do lucha, I can strike and I’m actually stronger than I might look. I feel like I can do it all and I’m excited to show that to a much larger audience.

James just recently signed a contract with Major League Wrestling where he has placed himself under the learning tree of infamous grappler Timothy Thatcher.

What are your goals specifically for MLW?

James: In all sincere honesty, I want to be the guy. I want to be the guy that they know will always deliver and deliver with anyone on the roster. I want to be the face of the company and the guy that helps take MLW to an even greater level.

James was a part of MLW’s debut pay-per-view pre-show where he teamed with another recent MLW signee, Dominic Garrini.

What are your goals for the rest of the year?

James: Only a few months left, my goals would be to stay healthy and to continue knocking down doors. I look at my goals on a linear level. I don’t believe in new year’s resolutions or anything like that. I work hard all year. Exciting times ahead.

James looks set to have a great 2020 ahead and he has amassed an army of fans who are ready to take the ride to the top with him.

Who is on your bucket list to face off against in the near future?

James: Low Ki and Austin Aries in MLW are the matches I want the most. I don’t know how it would happen, but I would love to wrestle Daniel Bryan one day.
