If you are in a good spot in the standings and looking ahead to the fantasy football playoffs, here are some players worth stashing.

Week 10 is officially in the books and Week 11 is underway with fantasy football owners putting in their waiver claims for the upcoming week. But what about the weeks ahead? If you have a good record and are a lock for the fantasy playoffs, why not look ahead to those weeks and stash a player or two?

In most leagues, the fantasy playoffs start in week 14 and finish in week 16. No one wants to play in week 17 when some teams are resting their players. There are a few players with great matchups during those weeks that you should add before your opponents have the chance.

With four teams on a bye this week and four more in week 12, most owners will have their fantasy teams at full-strength. The need for handcuffs or bench fodder will shrinking. You should use those extra roster spots for players with good matchups that could start for you in the most important games of the season should one of your star players get hurt.

More from Fantasy Football

I will list players at each position that are available in over 50 percent of ESPN leagues. They will have favorable matchups for weeks 14 thru 16.

Daniel Jones; @PHI, MIA, @WSH

Jones had a great game against the Jets, scoring 30.3 fantasy points. With two tough matchups coming up, at Chicago and against Green Bay, many fantasy owners may be moving on from the rookie. But, looking at the schedule after those two games, you may want to scoop him up.

Jones’ first game in the fantasy playoffs is in Philadelphia. The Eagles secondary has been a weak point for the team all season. He can have a good game against this defense.

Miami’s defense has allowed a lot of fantasy points this season. The Redskins held Jones to just 225 yards and one touchdown back in week 4 but with a bit more experience, Jones should put up a few more points in week 16.

Ryan Fitzpatrick; @NYJ, @NYG, CIN

As of this writing, the Dolphins are on a two-game winning streak. Who knows where they’ll be by the time the fantasy playoffs come around but Fitzpatrick will likely still be under center. In the last four weeks, he has six touchdowns with four interceptions and two rushing touchdowns.

We saw how the Jets and Giants defenses performed against each other’s quarterback in week 10. Fitzpatrick has some good weapons to help score against both defenses. The Bengals are 0-8. If they are 0-15 by the time this game happens, Fitzpatrick may be a top-10 pick. While I would hate to have my fantasy championship hopes rest on Fitzpatrick’s arm, if you’re in a deep league, he may be your only option.

Derrius Guice; @GB, PHI, NYG

Guice has yet to play a game this season. But, the Redskins running situation is under a lot of pressure. Adrian Peterson is averaging 16 carries per game. The Redskins are looking towards the future and Guice is a part of it.

The Packers, Eagles and Giants rank 28th, seventh and 19th against the run based on fantasy points per game. Having two of three games be favorable matchups for Guice for the playoffs is a good stash. Finding reliable running backs late in the season is near impossible. You should monitor how the Redskins use him in the weeks leading up to the playoffs.

Kalen Ballage; @NYJ, @NYG, CIN

Another Miami player, Ballage finally gets the playing time we’ve been waiting for. While Mark Walton is suspended, he will be eligible to play against the Jets. However, that will be enough time for Ballage to build up confidence and become an effective runner.

The Jets rank 14th, Giants 19th and Bengals 30th against opposing running backs. The Dolphins could completely fall apart by week 14 but they might not. Ballage didn’t look that great in week 10, 2.2 YPC but he did get 20 attempts.

Hunter Renfrow; TEN, JAX, @LAC

Renfrow has had three solid weeks of fantasy football performance. Derek Carr has looked good as well, coming out of the bye week. With Tyrell Williams struggling, Renfrow may become the No. 2 pass catcher for Oakland.

The three defenses that Renfrow will be coming up against rank no lower than 18th, the Raiders offense is good enough to compete and put up points. With Williams, Renfrow and Darren Waller in the passing game and Josh Jacobs leading the rush attack, I’m not too worried about the less-than-ideal matchups.

Tyler Eifert; @CLE, NE, @MIA

The Bengals offense has been a mess all season. With A.J. Green‘s return unknown, John Ross on the IR, Andy Dalton benched for Ryan Finley, there are very few reliable fantasy options. Though, tight end Eifert may be the beneficiary to all of this.

He’s scored 13.4 and 10 fantasy points in the last two weeks. Eifert had a total of 34.8 points in the first seven weeks this season. With two of the three games favoring Eifert, he’s a good TE2 or flex play. Cleveland ranks 19th and Miami ranks 20th against tight ends. The Patriots are 10th.

dark. Next. Week 11 Waiver Wire: Run, don’t walk, to pickup Darius Slayton and Derek Carr

You don’t have to go into the fantasy playoffs with bench options in your starting lineup but if you have one or two lower-ranked players with good matchups, they could help your team get to the next round. Don’t get too cute. Play your stars. But, using a sleeper could make a difference.
