Myles Garrett, Mason Rudolph erupt into brawl (Video)
Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph were at the center of one of the wildest fights we’ve seen in the NFL. Suspensions will be coming.
The game was seemingly over. The Cleveland Browns beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. Then chaos.
With eight seconds remaining in the game, Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett pressured Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph and brought him to the ground. The two began tussling a bit before Garrett ripped off Rudolph’s helmet.
Then all hell broke loose.
The two got to their feet and with Pittsburgh’s offensive line intervening, it appeared nothing was going to happen. Suddenly, Garrett smacked Rudolph over the head with his own helmet, leading to a brawl that saw center Maurkice Pouncey punching and kicking a befallen Garrett. Then came the ejections, with suspensions on both sides certainly coming.
Here’s the video of what was a wild scene in Cleveland.
The game ended with a 21-7 Cleveland win, but nobody is going to remember that. Now, the question becomes how many players are going to be banned and for how long? After the game, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield told FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews that Garrett’s behavior is “unacceptable.”
It stands to reason Garrett is going to get the most impactful punishment. This is the first time at least in recent NFL history a player has been bashed over the head with his own helmet. Considering player safety and the game being on national television, Garrett can expect a long suspension.
