Rank: 19 | Opponent: Iowa State Cyclones | Time: Saturday, Nov. 16, 3:30 p.m. ET

After coming off of a tough three-game stretch that featured losing to rival Oklahoma, barely skating past Les Miles and Kansas and then losing on the road against TCU, the Texas Longhorns were able to rebound with a critical victory against a ranked Kansas State team last week. But Tom Herman’s team gets little time to rest as they now hit the road to Ames in Week 12 to face the Iowa State Cyclones.

To be sure, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster season for Matt Campbell’s group. They have a 5-4 record overall and enter the matchup with Texas off of two-straight losses. Of course, those two losses came in a back-and-forth game against a good Oklahoma State team and then almost completing a monumental comeback against Oklahoma last week (if not for a failed two-point conversion attempt at the end of the game).

Considering that, up against Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, Iowa State’s defense game up 34 and 42 points, respectively, the Cyclones can clearly be had in that regard. And despite their shortcomings at times, Sam Ehlinger, Keontay Ingram and the Longhorns know how to put points on the board. The issue, however, is that Texas has struggled to stop high-quality offenses in their own right.

With the way that Brock Purdy and the Cyclones have been playing as of late, that should be concerning for the Longhorns. The sophomore quarterback has looked the part of a bonafide star and could very well match Ehlinger step-for-step in this matchup on Saturday. And as Texas has shown this season, if that happens, they could be in danger of losing yet again.
