College football rivalry week leaves both Alabama and Ohio State on upset alert in Week 14 as they each fight for their College Football Playoff chances.

All bets are off when it comes to college football rivalry week at the end of the regular season. When you add high stakes, both emotional and in terms of the postseason, it’s a breeding ground for upsets. Some are easy to identify while others are difficult to see coming, the biggest of surprises. But nonetheless, there should be no shortage of upsets in college football Week 14.

Two teams that will certainly be on upset alert in Week 14 are the No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes. Mac Jones and the Tide will get into the Iron Bowl matchup with a No. 15-ranked Auburn squad that will put the backup quarterback to the test on the road. Meanwhile, Justin Fields and the Buckeyes will come off their biggest test of 2019 and go to the Big House for The Game against No. 13-ranked Michigan.

One team that we won’t be putting on upset alert in college football rivalry week, however, is the No. 8-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers. Though they are at home and ranked higher than the rival Wisconsin Badgers, the visitors are actually favored in this game. Moreover, they are only separated by four points in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, making them too closely matched for it to be considered a true upset.

Elsewhere throughout the country, we could see an explosive Colorado team catch Utah slipping in the regular-season finale. Moreover, a feisty Texas A&M could push LSU in Baton Rouge. Or maybe real dark horses like South Carolina and Georgia Tech can pull off shockers at home against Clemson and Georgia, respectively.

However, those games are not “officially” being listed as ones where teams are on upset alert. The recipe is more clear for other teams in the final week of the regular season before the conference championships take place. These are the five college football teams in danger of getting upset in Week 14.
