With playoff positioning on the line, these five teams find themselves most in need of a win in Week 14.

We are officially hitting the stretch run of the NFL season, and that means playoff positioning is up for grabs. Week 14 features plenty of games with postseason implications, and wins there could be the difference between getting the first weekend of January off or needing to go on the road to reach the Super Bowl.

Each team in this week’s must-win list is in the mix for the postseason, so getting a win here would be massive for them. Let’s start with the Kansas City Chiefs, who have an opportunity for revenge against the New England Patriots.

5. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are in firm control of the AFC West after sweeping the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, which has them in position to be the AFC’s fourth seed if the playoffs began today. There is still a shot for Kansas City to get a first-round bye, however, and that involves winning on Sunday against the New England Patriots.

This is a revenge game for the Chiefs, who lost to the Pats in the AFC Championship Game last year, but the seeding implications are more important. Kansas City is two games behind the Patriots in the standings, and a win here would not only cut the deficit to one but would give the Chiefs the all-important head-to-head tiebreaker.

This victory would also be important for the Chiefs’ psyche after blowing two winnable games against the Patriots last year. New England is vulnerable right now on offense, and if the Chiefs can’t get this game it’s fair to wonder if Andy Reid can ever beat Bill Belichick in a big spot.
