Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson joined Michael Vick as the only quarterbacks in the 1,000-yard rushing club on Sunday in Buffalo.

Lamar Jackson continues to set records in what was already an MVP-caliber season.

Jackson reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark during the first quarter of the Baltimore Ravens game against the Buffalo Bills at New Era Field on Sunday, joining Michael Vick as the only quarterbacks to eclipse that milestone. Vick rushed for a quarterback-record 1,039 yards in 2006 with the Atlanta Falcons.

Jackson came into the game 23 yards short of the mark and quickly gained 16 yards on a read-option play during the Ravens opening drive. With eight minutes remaining in the quarter, Jackson juked out Bills linebacker Matt Milano in the backfield and scrambled for seven yards to crack the 1,000-yard barrier.

For the season, Jackson has rushed 144 times for 1,003 yards, an average of seven yards per carry (at the time of publishing). He’s also scored seven touchdowns on the ground and has passed for 2,552 yards and 25 touchdowns in his second year as Ravens quarterback.

Over his past seven games, all of them Ravens victories, Jackson has continued to solidify his claim to be the NFL MVP frontrunner. He’s rushed for 669 yards and six touchdowns while throwing for 14 touchdowns with no interceptions. The Ravens are averaging 35 points per game in that span and scored 40 or more points in three straight games for the first time in franchise history. As Jackson said earlier this season, not bad for a “running back” who teams thought couldn’t play quarterback in the league when he came out of Louisville.

The Ravens are 10-2 on the season and currently hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Baltimore lead the Bills 10-0 in the second quarter as they look to extend their winning streak to a franchise record nine games.
