NFL DFS Sunday Night Football: FanDuel single game contest preview
By Hans Geevers
Sunday Night Football presents the FanDuel/DFS community with a clash of NFC West teams. Let’s take a look at this game from a fantasy football perspective!
Before I dive into my FanDuel player selections let’s take a look at the key DFS injuries for Sunday night’s game and briefly review the rules for FanDuel single game contest.
DFS Key Injuries
Seattle Seahawks: DOUBTFUL: Luke Wilson, TE: Nick Bellore, RB.
Los Angeles Rams: OUT: Gerald Everett, TE.
Now let’s discuss the rules for the FanDuel single game contest. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The FanDuel MVP accumulates 1.5 times the standard FanDuel points value.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is imperative that you identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to take down a FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the FanDuel single game contest, I recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
Let’s not waste anymore time! Here are my player selections for tonight’s single game contest.
MVP-Cooper Kupp $12,000
I like Kupp as my MVP for multiple reasons. First of all, I think rolling with Kupp as the MVP is an outstanding pivot from the other MVP candidates that are available for this single game slate. In my opinion, most DFS players will go with more high profile players as the MVP. I am making reference to the likes of Russell Wilson, Jared Goff, Chris Carson, etc. For me, one of the keys to winning a FanDuel single game contest is finding the appropriate leverage with your MVP if possible.
What attracts me most to Kupp for my MVP in this single game contest is his recent productivity on the football field AND how outstanding he performed versus the Seattle Seahawks earlier this season.
Let’s first look at Cooper Kupp’s recent productivity. In the Rams last two games, Los Angeles quarterback Jared Goff targeted Kupp 16 times. In that same two game span, Kupp accumulated 12 receptions, 100 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown.
Now let’s take a quick look how Cooper performed against this Seahawks defense earlier in the season. In the Rams week six contest versus Seattle, Cooper Kupp had nine receptions, 117 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown.
Flex Plays
Russell Wilson $15,500
Wilson is playing outstanding football in 2019. His outstanding play does not always show up on the stat sheet. However, I fully expect that his quality play in Sunday night’s game will result in outstanding statistics. Great statistics are obviously the key to any successful fantasy lineup!
Let’s look at how Wilson performed earlier in the season against the Rams. In Seattle’s week six game versus the Rams, Wilson accumulated an impressive 29.92 FanDuel points!
Jared Goff $14,500
I am stacking my MVP with his quarterback, Jared Goff. I know what your likely thinking, Goff has not had a great year. That is true. However, when Goff has played teams this year that did not have an outstanding pass rush, he has succeeded from a fantasy perspective.
An example of Goff’s ability to perform at a high level can clearly be illustrated in his performance in last week’s game. Goff threw for 424 yards and two passing touchdowns versus the Cardinals last week.
Tyler Higbee $8,500
Earlier in this article I mentioned that L.A. Rams tight end Gerald Everett has been officially ruled out for Sunday night’s game. Well, Everett was also out last week. Higbee started in his place and played outstanding. Higbee had a total of 20.2 FanDuel points in week 13. I expect Higbee to continue his outstanding play in Everett’s absence on Sunday.
Jason Myers $9,000
For my last flex play selection I am going with Seattle kicker Jason Myers. The Seahawks have struggled in the redzone at times this season. The Seahawks failure to score touchdowns has resulted in Myers having a large number of opportunities to kick field goals.
To illustrate my point, let’s take a look at Myers last six games. In Seattle’s last six games, Myers has an average of 9.83 FanDuel points a game.
As always, good luck!
