4. J.K. Dobbins, RB, Ohio State

When the lights have been brightest in the 2019 season, we’ve seen big games from J.K. Dobbins. The Big Ten Championship Game was no different as the 5-foot-10, 217-pound junior running back was a workhorse for the Ohio State offense. Dobbins toted the rock 33 times on the night, going for 172 yards and a touchdown to help the Buckeyes get the conference title win.

Overall, Dobbins’ production is undeniable this season as he has 283 carries for 1,829 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground along with 200 receiving yards and two additional touchdowns. Most importantly, though, Dobbins, was remarkably consistent, finishing just one game with fewer than 89 yards (a win over Miami-Ohio where he had only eight carries). That’s enough to get him above Taylor and well into the top five of these rankings.

3. Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma

The best of Jalen Hurts was not on display at AT&T Stadium for the Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday afternoon. Oklahoma’s quarterback went 17-of-24 for 287 yards and one touchdown, which is nice. However, he also threw an interception, lost a fumble and was held to one of his worst rushing games of the season, carrying the ball 23 times for only 38 yards.

Make no mistake, Hurts was enough to propel the Sooners to the overtime victory that gets them into the College Football Playoff. Moreover, he has 50 touchdowns (32 passing, 18 rushing) and has accrued almost 5,000 total yards. But while it’d be a shame if he wasn’t invited to New York City as a finalist, his tepid finish to the year drops him out of the runner-up spot.
