7. 2016 Alamo Bowl – TCU vs. Oregon

These past few seasons have provided some wild finishing bowl games, but that did not appear to be the case when Oregon faced off against TCU in 2016, The Ducks made the Horned Frogs looks like a division two team in the first half as they went up and down the field on Gary Patterson’s defense and led 31-0 at half. Oregon’s quarterback Vernon Adams Jr had gotten hurt before halftime, which forced backup Jeff Lockie to play. Though with such a significant lead, it seemed the Ducks were safe. Even with a little over four minutes in the third quarter Oregon still led 31-3, then everything flipped.

Without Adams Jr, the Oregon offense went cold punting on every possession in the second half. Meanwhile, TCU scored 28 straight points and tied the game with 19 seconds left, sending the game into overtime.

Both teams would then trade touchdowns in the first overtime and then field goals in the second. But it was TCU who not only scored in the third overtime but also got the final stop to seal the game. The 31-point comeback by the Horned Frogs is tied for the largest in bowl history with Texas Tech in the 2006 insight bowl.
