NFC East

Dallas Cowboys: Week 6, at New York Jets

The NFC East has been downright awful this season, and at this moment its champion may not even be .500 at the end of the regular season. The Dallas Cowboys have been a massive disappointment, and we saw a sign of what was to come with them in New York in Week 6.

The Jets entered the game with an 0-4 record and looked completely rudderless, but Dallas came out flat in the first half of a 24-22 defeat. Injuries to Amari Cooper and La’el Collins didn’t help, but even without them the Cowboys still had plenty of talent left to handle the Jets.

Dallas made some big second half adjustments and nearly came back to win, but the comeback fell short, leaving the Cowboys in a tie with the Eagles for the division entering Week 15. Taking care of business against the Jets would have put the Cowboys a game up with a win over the Eagles in their back pocket, potentially altering the race for good.

Philadelphia Eagles: Week 13, at Miami Dolphins

This is the first appearance of the Dolphins on the list, and they did their part to potentially sabotage the Philadelphia Eagles’ NFC East title dreams. Miami pulled out all the stops to topple the Eagles, including a trick play where their punter threw a touchdown to the kicker.

The fact the Eagles lost a game to a team that wasn’t even trying to win games at the beginning of the year is alarming. If the Eagles showed up to play here and picked up a win, they would be in first place in the division with three weeks to go and the rematch against the Cowboys coming in Philadelphia in Week 16.
