Wide receiver Chris Godwin has been fantastic this season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his injury will be a tough blow for your fantasy team.

Though the Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren’t a playoff team, they have an exciting offense this season. While quarterback Jameis Winston may turn the ball over at will in this offense, he will score some points as well, thanks in large part to great receiving options like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin at his disposal.

Evans has been one of the best wide receivers in football since being a first-round pick by the Buccaneers in 2014 out of Texas A&M. Now, it seems that the Buccaneers have another gem in the receiving corps in Godwin. Unfortunately, he suffered a brutal hamstring injury in Week 15 on the road vs. the Detroit Lions. Godwin’s season may be over.

If you’ve made it this far in fantasy, you are playing for your shot at a league championship. A big reason you’ve had this much success is finding guys like Godwin and building up your fantasy receiving corps around guys like him. Should you advance to the championship, you’re likely going to have to find somebody else to step up to fill his gaping hole in your roster.

If you’ve used Godwin in the flex, you should be in good shape, as you can always insert a running back or a tight end into that role, assuming what your league allows to be played in that spot. But if you’ve leaned on Godwin as your WR2 or even your WR1 at times, you may not be able to overcome losing him entirely for the fantasy league championship in Week 16.

So if you need to find somebody to fill in for Godwin, look to your bench first for a backup wide receiver. After that, look for the best available player you can use to play in the flex that is still available on the waiver wires. Injuries happen in football, but what a brutal time for a great player like Godwin to go down. Hopefully, he gets healthy and hopefully, you can overcome losing him.
