After Joe Burrow came out of nowhere to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy, here are five dark horse picks to challenge for the 2020 Heisman.

Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield kinda came out of nowhere to capture the Heisman Trophy in the last three years. Who could be waiting for a similar breakout story in 2020?

Anyone who’s had hopes of playing college football probably envisioned themselves holding that trophy and being remembered as one of college football greatest ever. And as we wrap up 2019, it is never to early to start looking towards next season’s contenders.

There are going to be slam dunk candidates like Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence, but as we saw with Burrow, there is a high chance the top contender is someone who is being dismissed as a serious candidate at the moment. No one picked Burrow to be in this position last year when Murray edged out Tua Tagovailoa for the Heisman.

So as we look towards 2020, who are those players who could emerge onto the national scene or current starters ready to take their play to a level unthought.

Things will have to bounce right for all these guys, but here are five players, in particular, lurking in the shadows.
