Monday Night Football presents  the FanDuel/DFS community with a game that should be a high scoring battle! Let’s take a look at this game from a fantasy football perspective.

Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections let’s take a quick look at the rules for the single game contest and review the key DFS injuries for Monday night’s game.

In my opinion, the rules for the FanDuel single game contest are rather simple. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your lineup’s MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5 times the standard FanDuel points.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is imperative that you select the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a FanDuel single game contest.

Key DFS Injuries

Indianapolis Colts: QUESTIONABLE: T.Y. Hilton, WR.

New Orleans Saints: None.

Here are my DFS player selections for Sunday night’s single game contest.

MVP-Michael Thomas $15,500

In my opinion, Michael Thomas is currently the best wide receiver in the NFL. Thomas is a vital part of the Saints offense, no doubt about it. Let’s take a look at how important Thomas has been to the New Orleans offense from a data perspective by looking at his last five games.

In the Saints last five games, Michael Thomas has been targeted by New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees 58 times! In that same five game span, Thomas has 48 receptions, 549 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

Now that we have established Thomas’s unbelievable recent play, let’s shift our focus to his opponent on Monday night. The Indianapolis Colts are a football team that has clearly struggled to defend the pass this season. The Colts are currently the 21st ranked pass defense in the NFL. That is not good.

The Colts just allowed Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston to throw for 458 passing yards and four touchdowns in week 14. The thought that immediately comes to my mind is simple. If the Colts are going to allow Tampa Bay to pass for over 450 yards in a single game, how many passing yards will Indianapolis allow to the Drew Brees led Saints offense on Monday?

I absolutely love Thomas chances to put up great fantasy numbers on Monday night!

Flex Plays

Drew Brees $16,000

I am stacking my MVP with his quarterback, Drew Brees. Brees has been playing outstanding from a fantasy perspective over the last month. How good you may ask? Well, over his last four games, Drew Brees is averaging 23.97 FanDuel points! I fully expect Brees to continue his outstanding fantasy production on Monday night. Fade him at your own risk!

Zach Pascal $11,500

I mentioned earlier in this article that Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is officially questionable for Monday night’s game. Furthermore, reports today indicated that Hilton is a game time decision. I like Zach Pascal’s chances to excel on Monday regardless if Hilton plays. However, if Hilton is out for this contest I love Pascal in this football game.

In his last two games, Pascal has averaged an impressive 16.15 FanDuel points a game. I should also note that the Saints are currently the 20th ranked pass defense in the NFL. Clearly, Pascal will have chances to succeed on Monday night.

Will Lutz $9,500

For my next flex play selection I am rolling with Saints kicker Will Lutz. Lutz has certainly been getting a large number of field goal chances on this high scoring football team in 2019. Let’s take a look at Lutz’s recent fantasy production. In the Saints last four football games, Lutz has averaged 13 FanDuel points a game.

Tre’Quan Smith $7,500

In the Saints last three games, Smith has been targeted by New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees nine times. Additionally, in that same three game span, Smith had five receptions, 56 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. I like Smith’s chances to continue to contribute to the Saints offense on Monday night.

As always, good luck!
