2019 Boxing Prospect of the Year: Daniel Dubois (14-0, 13 KOs)

What’s considered a boxing prospect? Here’s our definition. A prospect is an extremely high achieving boxer who has been a professional for three years or less. They need to make a significant impact on their division and are rated within the top 100 by Boxrec.com. Additionally, they can’t possess a major world title but are on the verge within the next year or two. They can’t be a prospect if they’re already a world champion.

Also, don’t confuse a prospect with a newcomer. A newcomer is someone who just completed their rookie year as a professional. Considering this set of criteria, heavyweight Daniel Dubois (14-0, 13 KOs) is FanSided’s Prospect of the year.

Dubois has a perfect record and an astonishing 93 percent KO rating. He’s only 22 years old but is a rising force as a heavyweight.  His opposition has been B- caliber, but he’s steadily increasing the quality of his challengers.

Dubois had a busy 2019. He fought five times and knocked out all of his opponents. Dubois never went past the fifth round. He’s a natural knockout artist that’s going to be a problem for the division’s best soon.

Dubois is rated as the 26th best heavyweight by Boxrec.com, and he’s been fighting for less than three years. He’s a fast riser and will be entering the top 10 shortly. At 6-foot-5, Dubois has the size to give any heavyweight problems. He possesses minor titles, but that could change in 2020.
