DraftKings college football wide receiver picks January 2:

Top Tier:

Tennessee’s pass defense was really solid this year, but it’s smoke and mirrors. The only prolific passing team that the Vols faced was Alabama. I see huge games possible, if not likely, for Whip Philyor and Ty Fryfogle here. Nick Westbrook deserves considering as well. I may just run all three Indiana receivers. This is a much better matchup than it looks like on paper.

Middle Tier:

I tend to think that the Bearcats are going to run a lot, but Alec Pierce should still have a strong game here. The bad news? Pierce has only two touchdown receptions on the season and they were in weeks 5 and 6. Josiah Deguara probably has a better chance at a touchdown reception, though he sees less targets.

With Jauan Jennings out, Josh Palmer and Marquez Calloway could be in for big games. Palmer had the big one against Missouri. Calloway did against Kentucky, while also going over 100 against Missouri. The Vols may have to play catch-up here, so I will use at least one of the receivers. Probably Calloway first.

Bargain Shoppers:

Ineffective quarterback play made it really hard to rely on Zay Flowers or Kobay White, even though I think both are good receivers. White is the guy I would target if using one, but I don’t see any scenario in which I’ll be desperate enough to use any Boston College offensive piece period. That could make them interesting GPP options though.

Peyton Hendershot emerged as one of the better receiving tight ends down the stretch. He had 17 receptions for 162 yards over the last three games. Those are strong numbers for that low price tag.
