Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm has decided to go pro after his junior year. Here are five teams who select Fromm in the 2020 NFL Draft.

We waited for a week to hear what Jake Fromm’s plans were regarding the 2020 NFL Draft. After beating the Baylor Bears in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day, Fromm took his time to come to the best decision for him. On Wednesday afternoon, Fromm tweeted out that he did intend to enter the upcoming NFL Draft, leaving behind an impressive legacy at Georgia.

Fromm won the SEC East three times, played in the national title game as a true freshman in 2017, won at least 11 games each year as the starter and never lost a game to arch-rival Florida Gators. He completed over 63 percent of his passes in college for over 8,000 and 75 touchdowns. As a fringe first-round pick, he did enough in college to merit turning pro.

Overall, this looks to be a loaded quarterback draft class with as many as six signal-callers possibly going in the first round. LSU’s Joe Burrow, Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa and Oregon’s Justin Herbert are first-round locks, while Fromm, his former teammate in Washington’s Jacob Eason and Utah State’s Jordan Love could all end up going in the first round. But who is taking who?

Here are five NFL teams who should seriously consider drafting Jake Fromm in the 2020 NFL Draft.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have an interesting decision to make this offseason at the quarterback position: Do they bring Jameis Winston back on another contract or do they look to replace him, either in the NFL Draft or in free agency? With the Buccaneers picking at No. 14, they would be in prime position to take Fromm just outside of the top-10.

Some might argue that Fromm is a second-round pick at best, but he’s going to wow NFL general managers with his character and the work he does on the board. His arm talent isn’t spectacular, but he won’t need it playing in a warm-weather division like the NFC South. Add in that Fromm would be coached by quarterback guru Bruce Arians in Tampa Bay and this could out wonderfully.

4. Carolina Panthers

Will the Carolina Panthers take Fromm with the No. 7 overall pick? Probably not, though they will likely be looking for a franchise quarterback to replace Cam Newton. If Carolina stands pat at No. 7, they’d be in the position to draft either Herbert out of Oregon or Tagovailoa out of Alabama if the Miami Dolphins somehow screw this up. But is there any chance Fromm winds up in Charlotte?

There is a pretty good chance he lands with the Panthers. Carolina has a high second-round pick and could look to take him then. Or they could use that pick and trade up into the back-half of the first round to land their new face of the franchise. Add in that Fromm beat new Panthers head coach Matt Rhule’s Baylor Bears in the Sugar Bowl and he could be the new face of Carolina.

3. New England Patriots

At some point, Tom Brady isn’t going to be the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots. Brady is 42-years-old and will be hitting his free agency. Most people expect he’ll be back in 2020, but the Patriots need to look for a cerebral replacement for him at some point. Fromm might end up the latest Georgia player Bill Belichick drafts to make his football team better.

Though Fromm doesn’t have the powerful right arm to cut through the harsh AFC East winds, the New England offense isn’t about chucking the ball long as much as you would think. It’s a lot of short passes to tight ends and wide receivers, something we’ve seen from Fromm at Georgia for years. While New England may still be interested in Jarrett Stidham, Fromm is a better prospect.

2. Indianapolis Colts

And here we are. The Indianapolis Colts have an opportunity to draft another franchise quarterback after their previous signal-caller fell apart physically. At this time a year ago, there was no way the Colts would be in the market for a quarterback, but nobody expected Andrew Luck would abruptly retire before the start of the regular season. Are the Colts all in on Jacoby Brissett?

Indianapolis is picking at No. 13 in the 2020 NFL Draft, meaning they are in the prime spot to draft a guy like Fromm who could climb up draft boards in the coming weeks due to how teams feel about his character and his intangibles. Fromm would thrive in a dome and playing in a southern climate in the AFC South means he could get the most out of his talent should he go to the Colts.

1. New Orleans Saints

For as much as factions of Dawg Nation who also support the Atlanta Falcons would hate this, the best landing spot for Fromm in the 2020 NFL Draft would be the New Orleans Saints. He has a great shot at being Drew Brees’ successor in New Orleans and would have a chance to become a star playing in Sean Payton’s offense.

The Saints are picking No. 24 in the first round and might be able to land Fromm in the back-end of the first round, assuming his stock doesn’t climb in the coming weeks because of his leadership traits and maturity. It’s a combination of a dome team in need of a new quarterback soon and playing in a southern climate. He won his last college game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
