People deal with loss differently. For Clemson Tigers fans, they clearly went to Pornhub after losing to the LSU Tigers in the 2019 National Championship.

This is one way to get over a loss.

Monday night’s college football national championship between the No. 1 LSU Tigers and the No. 3 Clemson Tigers certainly lived up to the hype. LSU defeated Clemson 42-25 to win their fourth national title in school history. While LSU fans hit Bourbon Street in New Orleans and celebrate, Clemson fans went to Pornhub to drown their sorrows and cope with the loss. Wait, what?

Yes, we have the data to back that up. Pornhub shows that the traffic in South Carolina, the state where Clemson University is located, spiked over 22 percent after the game ended. Similarly, traffic dipped over 22 percent in Louisiana. While LSU fans went out and partied with their friends, Clemson fans clearly needed some alone time to deal with their first loss in over two years.

Ultimately, this is not uncommon for losing teams in championship games. Pornhub tracks all this traffic data and will usually share their findings a day or so after the fact. We are all human and we’re not so different in how we celebrate and how we grieve. Well, not everybody turns to pornography to deal with heartbreaking sports losses, but more than enough people do.

We have to wonder what the anticipated spikes will look like after the next big sporting event in this great country of ours. Yes, we’re going there, anticipating one of four American metropolises will drown their sorrows by spending some precious alone time on the internet. Will it be the Bay Area, Kansas City, Nashville or Greater Milwaukee who will use the internet alone like this next?
