Jamies Winston is arguably one of the most talented quarterbacks in fantasy football today who can bring so much joy yet at the same time drive owners insane. The 2019 regular season exemplified just that as he had some pretty impressive numbers to go along with some very ugly ones as well.

This has left many of us wondering what exactly we should do this summer when everyone is preparing for the 2020 season. I know it seems like a ways away, but it will be here before you know it. It’s always a good idea to already start getting an idea of how you should be planning your draft strategy early so it doesn’t feel like you’re Deshaun Watson scrambling for your life trying to figure things out at the last minute. See what I did there? Okay, I’ll stop and get serious now.

Turning our attention back onto the soon-to-be sixth year Tampa Bay quarterback, there seems to be some controversy on whether or not he can be counted on in fantasy lineups.

Winston had a roller-coaster season with extreme highs and lows mixed in together. For starters, he finished off the regular season with 5,109 passing yards which were the most by any quarterback in the league this year. He became just the eighth passer in NFL history to throw for over 5,000 yards in one season.

Winston also paired that up with 33 touchdowns passes ranking him only second behind the league-leader in Lamar Jackson (36).

These are very impressive stats for Tampa Bay’s signal-caller, but this is where things get ugly. In addition to the 5,109 passing yards and 33 touchdowns, Winston also racked up 30 interceptions in the year which was the most by a quarterback this season. He is actually the founder of the 30-30 Club, which is for those who may not know is the first quarterback to have both at least 30 touchdowns passes and 30 interceptions in a single season.

To make matters worse, Winston also threw seven pick-sixes which are now the most by any quarterback in the history in the NFL. If that wasn’t enough he rewrote the history books on the final play of his 2019 campaign with a pick-six to end the game in OT to the Atlanta Falcons. On that final play of the season, he threw his 30th interception to create the 30-30 club and earned his seventh pick-six to now have the most in a season.

What a way for him to end 2019 with a bang! It truly was an extremely entertaining season to watch Winston as he would gun the ball for 300 yards a pop and couple that with a few interceptions in the same game. You can’t make this up.
