Remember how every year we would say DeVante Parker was going to break out in fantasy?

Almost every offseason in recent memory I would always hear how DeVante Parker was going to be the next star in the league only to come up short time and time again. It almost became a tradition to listen to the offseason hype every summer and then see him underperform.

Well in 2019, something seriously changed. For the first time in forever it seems, I didn’t hear the chatter about Parker breaking out. It mainly had to do with the fact that the Dolphins were an utter mess and they were in tank mode in order to have a good draft position. Still, it felt weird not repeatedly seeing the arguments being made as to why this was going to be Parker’s year.

He became an afterthought and no one dared go near him when Draft Day arrived in most leagues this past summer. Anyone in need of a receiver most likely glossed right over his name on draft boards as they knew of his track record. I did the same thing as I did not want to have any part of the Miami Dolphins in 2019.

To everyone’s surprise though, amidst all the negativity swirling around Miami, Parker finally proved his worth. It may have taken five years but he finally showed his true potential to the fantasy football community.

For the first time in his career, Parker posted a 1,000-yard season (1,202 to be exact). He paired that up with nine receiving touchdowns which was by far the most he has ever had in a single season since entering the league in 2015. It took a lot of people including myself by surprise of how well he played considering the circumstances surrounding him.
