This week, the PGA Tour presents the DFS/Fanduel community with an outstanding field of talented golfers, including 2019 Masters champion Tiger Woods!

Before I dive into my FanDuel player selections let’s briefly discuss the unique format of the Farmers Insurance Open and take a look at the key player statistics that I will be focusing on for this week’s tournament.

The Farmers Insurance Open is played on two different golf courses over a four day span in La Jolla, California. The two golf courses that the field will play are Torrey Pines North and Torrey Pines South. The 156 man field will play both courses in rounds one and two. After the conclusion of the second round a cut will occur. The remaining 65 players and ties will play the third and final rounds of the Farmers Insurance Open on the South course.

It should be noted that the South course has historically been far more difficult than the North course.

The key statistics that I am focusing on for this week’s event are GIR (greens in regulation), strokes gained approach, driving accuracy and scrambling.

Here are my FanDuel player selections for the Farmers insurance Open!

Gary Woodland $10,700

Mr. Woodland has quite an impressive record at the Farmers Insurance Open. Since 2009, Woodland has played the Farmers Insurance Open ten times. In those ten events played at Torrey Pines, Woodland has an impressive five top 20 finishes, including a ninth place result in 2019.

Woodland certainly checks the box for me when it comes to key statistics. He currently ranks fourth in driving accuracy (75.89%) and 12th in GIR (greens in regulation) on the PGA Tour.

Gary Woodland also arrives at this event in very good form. Let’s take a look at his most recent tournament results on the PGA Tour. In October he finished third at the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges and fifth at the ZOZO Championship. In December Woodland finished seventh at the Hero World Challenge and he finished seventh at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January.

Tony Finau $10,600

Finau has five consecutive top 24 finishes at the Farmers Insurance Open. He also arrives at this event in good form. Finau finished 14th at last week’s American Express.

Ryan Palmer $9,700

He arrives at this event on the heels of four consecutive top 17 finishes on the PGA Tour. Palmer also finished second at the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open.

Sepp Straka $8,600

Straka is currently ranked 28th on the PGA Tour in scoring off the tee (.563). It should also be noted that Straka shot an impressive  bogey free six under par 66 in the final round of last week’s The American Express en route to a fourth place finish.

Hank Lebioda $8,000

He finished 17th at last week’s American Express. Additionally, Lebioda finished 29th at the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open.
