2020 NFL mock draft: Miami Dolphins trade up for Tua Tagovailoa
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins are looking for their franchise quarterback, and in our latest 2020 NFL mock draft, they move up a few spots to land him.
The NFL has their Super Bowl participants, as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers took care of business during Championship Sunday. With those two teams left standing, the rest of the league has already turned their focus to the offseason, which includes a loaded draft class this April.
With that said, here is our latest 2020 NFL mock draft.
The Cincinnati Bengals hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and based on everything we are hearing coming out of the organization, there is no intention to move from it. The Bengals have decided that it is time to move on from franchise quarterback Andy Dalton, who played well for them at times, but never led them to a playoff win.
Entering the Senior Bowl and the rest of the draft season, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is considered the consensus pick at No. 1 overall. Burrow, who is fresh off leading his team to a national title, has said he has no problem playing in Cincinnati, and is willing to go to whatever team is going to pay him.
For the Bengals, this is the perfect selection at No. 1, as he is an Ohio kid who has all the talent to be a legitimate starter at the NFL level. Sure, he only started one full season at LSU, but what a season it was, as he not only won the national championship, but also brought home the Heisman Trophy while leading his team to a perfect record.
The Washington Redskins have a defensive-minded head coach entering the 2020 NFL season, as they have replaced Jay Gruden with former Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera. Riverboat Ron is a perfect fit for the D.C. area, and with his first selection at the helm, look for him to bring in one of the better defensive prospects we have seen in a long time.
Chase Young played his college ball at Ohio State, and during that time, he established himself as an elite edge rusher. In fact, many scouts feel he is going to be better than former Buckeyes Joey and Nick Bosa, who have entered the NFL and become two of the better players in the league in terms of getting after the quarterback.
For the Redskins, they have to change the culture in the building, and a guy like Rivera can certainly do that, as he is one of the more well-respected men in football. The NFC East was wide open this past season, and if Dwayne Haskins can build off a solid rookie season, and they bring in some pieces to fill some holes, why can’t they challenge in the division in 2020?
