DraftKings NBA picks January 28: Jokic is the safe play

The NBA called off the battle of L.A. until a later date after the death of Kobe Bryant. You can bet they will have something planned for whenever this is rescheduled. Even with that game off the slate, we still have eight games for our DraftKings NBA tournaments. Luka is on a back to back and Trae is back after a historic night against the Wizards. They aren’t the only stars. Let’s check on which ones are playing.

The injury reports have been difficult the last couple of days and likely will be tonight. Some players expect to go and as the game gets close, they decide it’s too difficult. Some just want to be on the court to forget about Kobe for a while. There is no right or wrong here. Shaming someone for playing/not playing in the wake of this loss is childish and ignorant. People deal with things in their own ways. These players are elite athletes but are also human and many lost a friend. That’s never easy. Watch for guys taking personal days again. I’ll update when I can.

Out: Giannis Antetokounmpo (shoulder), Jayson Tatum (groin), Steph Curry (hand), Klay Thompson (knee), Jamal Murray (ankle), Josh Richardson (hamstring), RJ Barrett (ankle), Jordan McRae (ankle), Rui Hachimura (groin), Darius Garland (rest), Mo Wagner (ankle), Enes Kanter (hip), Paul Millsap (knee), Justise Winslow (back), Jae Crowder (knee), Mason Plumlee (foot), Alex Len (hip), Kevin Porter (ankle), Jabari Parker (shoulder), Cam Johnson (quad), Garrison Mathews (ankle), Dewan Hernandez (ankle), Chandler Parsons (shoulder), Deandre Bembry (hand), Robert Williams (hip), John Wall (Achilles), Kevon Looney (abdomen), Brandon Knight (knee), Ante Zizic (illness), Dylan Windler (leg), Darius Miller (Achilles), Kenrich Williams (back), Andre Iguodala (personal), Bruno Caboclo (knee), Grayson Allen (hip), Bol Bol (foot), Dwight Powell (Achilles), Aron Baynes (hip), Frank Kaminsky (knee).

Questionable: Joel Embiid (finger), Kristaps Porzingis (knee), Ricky Rubio (ankle), Kendrick Nunn (Achilles), Bruno Fernando (calf), Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (ankle), Javonte Green (knee), Patrick McCaw (nose), Zhaire Smith (ankle).

Embiid is expected to play, but I’ll believe it when I see it. The Sixers have every reason to be careful with him even if he wants to play. Considering Nunn was questionable for much of the day yesterday, I would imagine that he’ll play tonight. The Heat wouldn’t have used him in both games anyway.

I had way too much Drummond last night and not enough Eric Gordon. I had one lineup with him and Drummond that made minimum cash, but that’s about it. One other lineup finished one point shy. A bad night from Hartenstein made sure that was that.

isithim too it down with 397.75 points. He built with Wiggins, DeRozan, and the Thunder guards and hit big with Bjelica and Hield. Great value out of House and Jakob Poeltl put him over the top.

Just because you don’t see someone on here doesn’t mean they aren’t a good play. I only have so much room, and I’m not going anyone a favor if I recommend more than half of the players at a position. If you have a feeling about someone, by all means, follow that. I mostly follow numbers and trends.
