The Jacksonville Jaguars are up against the salary cap this offseason, so they will have to get creative in order to fill their needs with these five potential free agent targets.

The hope of a rebirth for the Jacksonville Jaguars under Nick Foles didn’t come to fruition, leaving the franchise in a tough spot. Foles broke his collarbone in the first game of the season and was ineffective upon his return, although rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew did a solid job running the offense at times.

Minshew’s emergence gives the Jags options under center, but there were still plenty of other problems for a team that went 6-10 in 2019. To make matters worse, the Jaguars are one of two teams projected to be over the salary cap, meaning they will have to make some tough decisions to get under the threshold and have maneuverability to improve the roster.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some top targets the Jaguars could pursue in free agency, starting with Bills’ guard Quinton Spain.

5. Offensive Guard Quinton Spain

The Jaguars could use some help along the interior of their offensive line since Andrew Norwell has largely underachieved and the right guard spot wasn’t much better. Norwell is on a big deal, but the Jaguars could save five million dollars by cutting him, which could allow them to pursue an upgrade at that spot.

One good option would be Quinton Spain, who was a strong presence at left guard for the Buffalo Bills. It could take a significant financial investment to land the 29-year-old Spain, but it would be worth it since he could help both protect Minshew and open up holes for Leonard Fournette on the ground.
