On the eve of National Signing Day, here are the top 10 college football recruiting class rankings that see Georgia at No. 1 ahead of Alabama and Clemson.

For many, National Signing Day is on the same level as Christmas.

It’s the day when many college football fans across the country cross their fingers and pray their school will bring in the top recruits who’ll be the difference in winning the conference and hanging banners. Every year, we’re introduced to the schools who worked their butts off getting the top recruits at each position to come to their school. Some are more successful than others, naturally.

The 2020 version of National Signing Day is no different. So as we head into National Signing Day on Wednesday, here are the top 10 recruiting classes, courtesy of 247Sports.

College football recruiting class rankings entering National Signing Day

1. Georgia (23 commits, four 5-star, 15 4-star recruits)

Top recruits:

  • Kelee Ringo, 5-star, Saguaro, CB
  • Broderick Jones, 5-star, Lithonia, OT
  • Jalen Carter, 5-Star, Apopka, DT

If you’re a Georgia Bulldog fan, you have to love your team right now. Georgia already had one of the top five recruiting classes in the country, but they essentially assured their number one-status by getting a verbal commitment from Daijuan Edwards, a lighting quick and powerful RB who has made his name as the best RB in the Peach State.

2. Alabama (26 Commits, four 5-star, 18 4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Bryce Young, 5-star, Mater Dei, Dual-threat QB
  • Will Anderson, 5-star, Dutchtown, WDE
  • Chris Braswell, 5-star, St. Frances Academy, WDE

Before Georgia swooped in to get a commitment from Dijuan Edwards, many could have made an argument that the Crimson Tide had the best class coming into the 2020 Season. Their weak side defense will be set for the next three-years with Will Anderson and Chris Braswell anchoring what should be a punishing Bama’ defense. The only question left is if they can steal McKinnley Jackson from Texas A&M? If so, fear the Tide.

3. Clemson (23 Commits, five 5-star, 12 4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Bryan Bresee, 5-star, Damascus, DT
  • Myles Murphy, 5-star, Hillgrove, SDE
  • DJ Uiagalelei, 5-star, St. John Bosco, PRO

It’s a foregone conclusion that, with the temporary collapse of Florida State, Clemson is the team to beat in the ACC. Their 2020 class assures them that their perch on top of the ACC mountain will not be disturbed, with quarterback DJ Uiagalelei and strong-side defensive end Bryan Bresee leading a talented haul that Tigers fans are salivating over.

4. LSU (24 Commits, three 5-star, 14 4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Arik Gilbert, 5-star, Marietta, TE
  • Elias Ricks, 5-star, IMG Academy, CB
  • Kayshon Boutte, 5-star, Westgate, WR

The LSU Tigers are enjoying the spoils of being national champions, but now 2020 awaits and their recruiting class should keep them in the hunt for a repeat. Tight end Arik Gilbert and Kayshon Boutte should make an already lethal LSU offense even deadlier, and cornerback Elias Ricks should anchor the Tigers secondary. All-in-all, a good signing day for the champs.

5. Ohio State (25 commits, three 5-star, 14 4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Julian Fleming, 5-star, Southern Columbia, WR
  • Paris Johnson Jr., 5-star, Princeton, OT
  • Jaxon Smith Njigba, 5-star, Rockwall, WR

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of everyone in Columbus letting out a reliving sound of “Thank God!” The Buckeyes had an unusual disappointing class in 2019, but they rebounded nicely with the addition of the nation’s No. 1 receiver, Julian Fleming, and No. 1 tackle, Paris Johnson.

6. Texas A&M (24 Commits, two 5-star,12 4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Jaylon Jones, 5-star, Steele, S
  • Demond Demas, 5-star, Tomball, WR
  • Donell Harris, 4-star, Gulliver Prep, WDE

For the second straight year, the Aggies should have a top-5 recruiting class and they could do it if they can land McKinnley Jackson who has expressed heavy interest in coming to College Station. Even if they lose out on Jackson, a pair of five-star studs, safety Jaylon Jones and receiver Demond Demas, should have Jimbo Fisher’s dreaming of more than the Texas Bowl this year.

7. Auburn (25 Commits, 16 4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Tank Bigsby, 4-star, Callaway, RB
  • Zykeivous Walker, 4-star, Schley County, SDE
  • Wesley Steiner, 4-star, Houston County, ILB

Listen to me, Auburn. I know it’s disappointing to walk away from National Signing Day with no five-star recruits, especially given your most-hated rival getting four of them. However, your class is deep and talented and Auburn should be back among the most feared teams in college football this season.

8. Florida (24 Commits, 1 5-star, 16 4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Gervin Dexter, 5-star, Lake Wales, DT
  • Derek Wingo, 4-star, St. Thomas Aquinas, OLB
  • Xzavier Henderson, 4-star, Columbus, WR

The Gators decided to stay home and do their recruiting this year, and the result is a haul that should make Dan Mullens do the Dougie. They managed to sign defensive tackle Gervin Dexter from Lake Wales, their only five-star signee, and much of their class is deep and talented, which shows off the depth of talent the Sunshine State annually produces.

9. Oklahoma (23 Commits, 14  4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Nate Anderson, 4-star, Reedy, OG
  • Andrew Raym, 4-star, Broken Arrow, OG
  • Reggie Grimes, 4-star, Ravenwood, WDE

On one hand, it’s disappointing to Sooner fans that the school didn’t garner interest from a single five-star recruit, On the other hand, they rebounded well with a super impressive 15 four-star recruits. At least their offensive line will be hard to penetrate with the addition of Nate Anderson and Andrew Raym.

10. Texas (17 Commits, 1 5-star, 12 4-star)

Top recruits:

  • Bijan Robinson, 5-star, Salpointe Catholic, RB
  • Hudson Card, 4-star, Lake Travis, Dual-threat QB
  • Ja’Quinden Jackson, 4-star, Duncanville, Dual-threat QB

The Longhorns are back, on the football field and, finally, on the recruiting turf. After spending the past seven years in recruiting purgatory, Texas has regained its status as a preferred destination for four and five-star recruits. They stunned the college football world by snagging one such top-five recruit, Saiponte Catholic’s Bijan Robinson, the first five-star recruit since Mack Brown left Austin in 2012. The rest of their recruiting class is talented and it’s safe to say that Texas will be continuing their climb back to the top for the foreseeable future.
