The Kansas City Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champions, but these five players could help them win another Lombardi Trophy.

The drought is over for the Kansas City Chiefs, who have climbed back to the top of the NFL mountain for the first time in 50 years. With a brilliant quarterback who has both MVP and Super Bowl MVP honors on his resume in Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs are well set up to become the next NFL dynasty.

Kansas City will have some tough free agent decisions to make, however, in order to give themselves the best chance at defending the Lombardi Trophy in 2020. Let’s take a look at the five free agents who are best suited to fill the Chiefs’ needs, beginning with guard Andrus Peat.

5. Guard Andrus Peat

The Chiefs’ offensive line was a strength last season, but it could still use some upgrades along the interior. Two of the Chiefs’ interior linemen, guards Andrew Wylie and Stefan Wisniewski, are pending free agents as well.

Wisniewski became the starter late in the year and could be re-signed inexpensively to fill that hole, but the Chiefs could make their line significantly better with the addition of former Saint Andrus Peat. The New Orleans offensive line has been a key factor in their rise to the top of the NFC in recent years, with Peat playing a key role on it.

The problem for New Orleans is they are actually over the projected salary cap right now and have to either re-sign Drew Brees or find his replacement in free agency. That could leave Peat free for the Chiefs to bring in to bolster their interior line.
