DraftKings NBA picks February 5: KAT on fully loaded slate
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA centers:
Best Bets:
Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,600): KAT racked up 60.75 DraftKings points against the Hawks in the first meeting. With Covington and others being traded last night, Towns could shoulder more of the load tonight. I don’t think Minnesota is done. I still think they’re trying to pry Russell away from the Warriors. If that happens before tipoff, Minnesota will be operating with more of a skeleton crew than they currently have. Either way, Towns could be in for a big night.
Nikola Jokic ($9,700): I wasn’t going to get back on Jokic with Murray back, but that was before he torched Portland for 69.75 DraftKings points. Jokic finished just one assist shy of another triple-double. Jokic is finally getting on track , and I see no reason to move off of him since he put up 54.5 DraftKings points against Utah last week.
Honorable Mention:
Kristaps Porzingis ($8,300): Porzingis is a lock right now. He has at least 56 DraftKings points in both games that he has played with Luka out. Memphis isn’t a particularly good matchup, but Porzingis thrives when he is the center of the offense. Luka has mostly neutered him, but when Luka is out, Porzingis has had some monsters. I don’t expect one of those tonight, but he has a puncher’s chance at 50 again.
Deandre Ayton ($8,300): Ayton is getting dangerous. He put up 57.75 DraftKings points on the Nets on Monday, and he even had to leave the game briefly. Ayton is playing huge minutes and is showing why he was the first overall pick. Luka and Trae get all of the attention from that draft class, but Ayton is showing he can be a force when healthy. I’m a huge fan of him at this price.
Bam Adebayo ($8,200): I usually run no one at the Clippers, but Bam is producing across all categories right now. He even picked up 11 assists agianst Philly on Monday. With so many other great options at center tonight, I don’t see much of a reason to reach for Bam against the Clippers, but I may run Bam once for a chance at low ownership.
Dark Horses:
Serge Ibaka ($6,100): Ibaka put up 38.25 DraftKings points agianst the Pacers the first time around. Gasol was out in that game as well. I see Ibaka’s output being about the same tonight. We don’t need a ton of value here, but if Ibaka is going above 6x value, he’s more than just a value pick.
Enes Kanter ($4,200): This isn’t a great matchup for Kanter here, but with Theis and Williams both out, Kanter is going to be leaned on for heavy minutes. With Kanter’s price this low, he’ll hit value with ease. The problem with Kanter is that you have to forfeit your center slot or UTIL slot. We’re probably better off just buying expensive centers and saving at guard.
