Zachary Evans is a 5-star recruit that could change a program’s offense but where is he going to play his college football after an eventful recruitment?

Where will Zachary Evans go?

Entering 2020 National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 5, the five-star running back is the top uncommitted college football recruit in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Thus, all eyes will be on the 5-star recruit who is the No. 2 running back in the class, the top prospect in Texas and the No. 16 overall recruit — just don’t expect it to be a quick decision.

Evans’ recruitment has been anything but clean and ordinary. He signed a letter of intent to play for the Georgia Bulldogs in December. Soon after, however, he was released from his LOI and re-opened his recruitment. As a result, he won’t be signing a LOI until March. This has allowed him to take multiple official visits and will likely make a few more in early March before making his decision of where to play college football.

And where he will play is more up in the air than ever given the tumultuous nature of his recruitment. However, we can look at the teams with which he’s had official visits and at least try to narrow it down in that regard.

In January, Evans took official visits with the Tennessee Volunteers and Ole Miss Rebels, both of whom are seemingly still in the mix to land the five-star running back. Furthermore, both Jeremy Pruitt and Lane Kiffin could stand to make a big splash by landing a player of Evans’ caliber.

However, Evans also took official visits with the LSU Tigers and Texas A&M Aggies during the season. LSU is out of the mix at this point but it does seem that staying in his home state of Texas and suiting up for Jimbo Fisher remains in the cards for the youngster.

It should also be noted Georgia is likely not involved with Evans any more because of his release from the LOI, but they also have two four-star running backs incoming in their 2020 class. That leaves little room for Evans at this point and Kirby Smart and his staff appear to have moved on.

While that’s all we know now, there are still any official visits in March that could bring about new contenders to sign Evans along with those already mentioned. Suffice it to say that not only is where he’ll play college football up in the air but when he will announce his decision is just as unclear.

The guess is he’ll pick Texas A&M over his other suitors.
