1. Joe Thuney, Guard

If the Chargers are going to make a big splash in free agency it might be with someone like Thuney. The offensive line is in a state of flux with several players dealing with lingering injuries or failing to meet expectations.

This is a unit that could use a stabilizing force like Thuney along the interior. He’s someone who comes with a winning pedigree and years of playing at a very high level. Thuney also brings some versatility having lined up at several positions throughout his career.

Addressing the offensive line is something that needs to be done no matter what direction they take at quarterback. If they keep Philip Rivers around for another year he’ll need time to survey the field.

A rookie quarterback would find the transition much easier with a stable offensive line. Thuney is just one player, but he has the talent to make a significant impact.

He would best fit at one of the guard spots possibly filling in for Michael Schofield who is a free agent this offseason. An interior offensive line featuring Thuney, Dan Feeney and Mike Pouncey would have a chance to dominate.
