Tom Brady rumors: 5 best fits in NFL free agency
For the first time in his career, Tom Brady is a true free agent, and these five teams would be the best fits for his services.
There aren’t many chances for a six-time Super Bowl champion to hit the open market, but that will happen this offseason.
Thanks to a uniquely structured contract, Tom Brady is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career, and he cannot be franchise tagged by the New England Patriots.
As a result, Brady is free to test the market and go for a top-dollar contract, a refreshing change for him after years of signing team-friendly deals with New England. Even though Brady is 43 years old come August, there are reports that up to eight teams could be in the market for his services.
Not all teams are a good fit for Brady, however, so we have taken the time to identify the five teams that offer the best match with the future Hall of Famer. Let’s start with a surprise entrant, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The fact that the Buccaneers are on here seems peculiar since they already have a pretty good quarterback in Jameis Winston. Last season was a mixed bag for the Florida State product, who led the league in passing yards and tied for second in touchdowns, but also paced the NFL with 30 interceptions.
Head coach Bruce Arians was non-committal about the future of Winston, who can become a free agent this season. If the Bucs feel that Winston isn’t the long-term solution, they could bridge the gap and make a run at the playoffs with Brady while they look to find their next franchise quarterback.
