3. Marcus Mariota, Quarterback, Tennessee Titans

It’ll be interesting to see if the Chicago Bears are serious about giving Trubisky some competition. The previous slide features Taysom Hill as a potential target for the Bears, but targeting Marcus Mariota would represent a more realistic challenge to Trubisky’s job.

Mariota is coming off another disappointing season that saw him lose his starting job to Ryan Tannehill. The Tennessee Titans really took off after making the quarterback change which doesn’t really speak well for Mariota.

However, he’s still only 26 years old and someone with tons of raw talent. His time in Tennessee was plagued by several coaching changes and varying offensive schemes.

Mariota is someone who needs a change of scenery and Chicago seems like as good a fit as any. Matt Nagy is an offensive minded head coach who can tailor and offensive attack to fit Mariota’s skill set.

Mariota would have some interesting weapons to utilize in Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller and Tarik Cohen. It’s also expected that the Bears will add a pass catching tight end at some point during the offseason.

For the Bears, they would be adding a talented young quarterback with some upside. He would give them a realistic option should Trubisky continue to struggle. At the very least, Mariota represents a veteran quarterback who would serve as a good backup.
