Magic Johnson wanted all things to be equal when he competed. Johnson will never forgive the Houston Astros for the 2017 World Series.

Magic Johnson was in Chicago for the NBA All-Star Game, but he had baseball on his mind at least part of the time. When quizzed about his thoughts on the Houston Astros 2017 cheating scandal, Magic did not hide his enormous displeasure.

“Its hard when being an athlete, I just want a level playing field. So when I played against the Bulls, same rules Michael Jordan has, same I’m gonna have. And I think for the Dodgers its the same thing, I just want a level playing field,” Johnson said. “We didn’t get that. So I was really disappointed, not just because I am an owner, I was disappointed for my players. Everything needed to be equal, and it wasn’t. And we feel thats the reason they won the World Series.”

Johnson had heard many of the Astros apologies and like most, didn’t feel like they were sincere or enough.

“I’m never going to be satisfied with all the excuses, what they say, I’m never going to happy, never going to be satisfied, especially because I used to play competitive sports. And again, we just want the same rules as the other team. When you cheat it sends a bad message, also, to the kids. This was bad all the way around. I don’t know what can happen to make us feel better. I don’t think anything, other than winning the World Series,” Johnson added.

Johnson made his way around Chicago for the 2020 NBA All-Star weekend. In addition to being on stage at the game itself to honor Kobe Bryant, Magic joined McDonalds Black and Positively Golden campaign movement as part of their ‘Beyond the Court Panel’. Magic discussed his success in business, dishing out assists on how to keep customers coming back for more.

The great storyteller, Johnson did not disappoint when asked to tell a Michael Jordan story. He went back to 1992.
