2020 NFL mock draft: Detroit Lions replace Darius Slay
By Brad Weiss
The Tennessee Titans put together an incredible end to the 2019 NFL season, playing well enough to earn the No. 6 seed in the AFC, and going on a solid playoff run. In fact, the Titans shocked both the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens on the road in the playoffs, before losing to eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City inside Arrowhead.
Still, nobody could have predicted that kind of run when the team moved on from Marcus Mariota, replacing him with veteran Ryan Tannehill. This offseason, the Titans have to find money to pay Tannehill, and star running back Derrick Henry, while also trying to find a way to bring back cornerback Logan Ryan.
If the Titans cannot afford to bring back all three, Ryan is gone, and could be replaced at pick No. 29 by Trevon Diggs, the brother of Minnesota Vikings star wideout Stefon Diggs. This is a kid who can start right away at the NFL level, and after making the AFC title game last year, the Titans are going to want to reload for another run in 2020.
The Green Bay Packers have one of the better quarterbacks in the history of the NFL in Aaron Rodgers, who led the team back to the NFC title game this past season. Unfortunately for the Pack, their season would end in San Francisco, as Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers were able to exploit their defense.
Heading into free agency, the Packers have a big part of their defense to try and lock up, as linebacker Blake Martinez will be a free agent. If Martinez decides to test the free agency waters, the Packers would be wise to utilize the No. 30 overall pick on arguably the best middle linebacker in this draft class in Kenneth Murray.
Murray is a fantastic athlete, and from his linebacker spot, has the ability to play sideline to sideline, while also being one of the elite tacklers in this draft class. Green Bay needs help at wide receiver, that is true, but late in the first round, Murray may be too hard to pass up.
