Grant Delpit NFL Draft

17. player. 123. . Safety. Dallas Cowboys. Grant Delpit

The Dallas Cowboys are another NFC team that has a lot of work to do this offseason, as they have some big name players hitting free agency. Most notably, quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver Amari Cooper, and cornerback Byron Jones are all free agents, though a deal should be coming for Prescott.

In the secondary, the Cowboys cannot afford to lose Jones, as they need help at both cornerback, and safety in this offseason. If Jones returns, the Cowboys should look to add arguably the best safety in this draft class, bringing in LSU Tiger Grant Delpit at pick No. 17 fresh off a national title.

Delpit would help solidify the safety position, and if the Cowboys can lock up Prescott on a long-term deal,  they should be right back in the mix for a playoff spot next season. This is a team with too much  talent to not make the playoffs, and new head coach Mike McCarthy should be able to get them over the hump in 2020.

. Wide Receiver. Miami Dolphins. Henry Ruggs III. 18. player. 59

The Miami Dolphins look to get better on the outside with their second of three first round picks in this mock, adding Henry Ruggs III from Alabama. An incredibly fast wideout, Ruggs would be the perfect WR1 for the Justin Herbert-led Dolphins moving forward, giving  him the kind of weapon he would need in Year 1.

Last season, Ryan Fitzpatrick was able to lead a depleted Dolphins team to victories, and the team actually played extremely hard all season long. With three first round picks, and a new franchise quarterback, the Dolphins should be able to  take the next step forward in 2020, even with a rookie quarterback at the helm.

Miami has a lot of holes to fill, and luckily for the franchise, they have five first round picks over the next two drafts. Ruggs is an elite prospect at the wide receiver position, and by locking up both he and Herbert early on in the first round this April, the Dolphins have a dynamic connection for the foreseeable future.
